3 week old growth spurt? The puppy I am getting only weighed 7 ounces at 2 weeks, now at 3 weeks she weights 16 oz. Have you ever heard of this big a growth spurt? She still looks very small, looking at the yorkie growth chart I can't estimate what she will weight. her sister from the mom's last litter only weight 2.5 full grown. Both mom and dad are small around 4 lbs.

| Holy Cow!!! She really got her vitamins. I am not a breeder and have no experience with this. To me, that sounds like alot to gain in a week but I could be wrong. Any chance either one of those weeks that she was weighed incorrectly?

I would question the 16 oz weight. Although she have had her growth spurt and she will slow way down now. I don't know. That's a wierd one!

Wow that seems like a huge growth spurt. I am not sure about the small breed dogs but I know with the large breeds that a huge growth spurt like that isn't the best for them. Not trying to panic you just saying what I have heard.

Growth Spurt My puppy Kodi went from 2 lbs to 3 lbs in just 2 weeks. I asked the vet if he was gaining too much weight and the vet said he was fine.

There is 4 puppies in the litter and she is the second to the smallest. Maybe this was her growth spurt and will taper off, I just couldn't believe it. Has anyone seen this happen in this young a puppy? The growth chart looks way off with her.

Actually , I have two litters of pups . Just too look at the way they are feeding themselves , I could swear the girls will all end up as 10 pounders . Until now , the higher weight as an adult was 6 pounds . They really change from a day to 4 weeks old . Last edited by Olivier; 05-17-2005 at 12:03 PM.

weight... Don't be concerned by her weight right now..she isn't even near weaning. Her parents are small and other sibs have been small...even if she got to 4 or 5 pounds she is still small, but mothers milk adds weight fast..weaning changes things and she will only be what she is genetically programmed to be anyway.

Thanks so much Yorkie Rose and everyone, you have made me feel better, I thought she might be a whopper! I am so happy with how pretty she is and what her parents look like. When I figure out how to post her picture I will, her breeder sends me new ones every week.
