question on liver shunt If a dog goes through liver shunt one time (and it is cured), is it likely to happen again? What are the chances that it will or will not? Let me know what experiences anyone has had with liver shunt.

My very first (in my avatar) yorkie I purchased was a LS baby. She passed away at 16 weeks old. The vet said she was too small too have surgery and didn't think she would make it she she had it. There are plenty on here that have had the surgery with good results, some are treated with diet and are doing well.

I took Piper to a specialist & I asked the same question. Once fixed, he told me the answer is no. It can't happen again. I mean once they have surgery to correct it. If it's diet, than they have to be on the diet the rest of their lives.
