| New and saying hello! Hi, I have a 7 year old Yorkie named Lacey who is the love of my life! The odd thing is I didn't even WANT a Yorkie! (Hangs head in shame!) I know, I know...I can't believe it either now, but back then I wanted another Pekingese, as that is all I had ever had, even as a child. Long story, but we ended up going to look (JUST look) at two litters of Yorkies and well, you know what happened! I just fell in love with this tiny, feisty wisp of a thing. BUT OH, I can tell you that the first few weeks were a learning experience! I thought I knew about dogs but found I hadn't really had a DOG. Not sure what Pekes are but I found they aren't dogs. THIS dog chewed-everything, furniture, (and she had discriminating taste-pine she left alone, maple she liked and my one antique cherry table she devoured-taking it from antique to distressed) clothes, my new purse (!), hands-you name it-she gnawed on it! She DUG-her bed, my bed...did you know that Berber carpet pulls up in long curly rope like things? She thought potty training was OK, but any other "training" was a battle of wills! Well, lets just say she earned her nickname "The Yorkie Of The Baskervilles". Now, she is my best friend and constant companion. 5 of our 6 kids are grown and gone and the youngest is a Jr. in high school so during the day it's just me and Lacey. She is a perfect doggie...my husband adores her and we can't imagine life without her! I never get tired of hearing stories about other peoples doggies so I guess it is time I joined a message board! |

| Glad you did. You'll have some fun, too, I hope...I love the name Lacey. I have a friend a few houses away that has a seven-year-old, too. Her name is Missy. We just went to visit and play yesterday evening for awhile. I understand what you are saying when you describe the first taste of having a yorkie! It's an experience. That's for sure! Is that her in your avatar? If so, she's absolutely beautiful!

| Hello and welcome to YT. I can completely relate to your first yorkie experience... but they have quite a way of embedding themselves into our hearts in minutes, don't they? so it's all worth it

| Welcome to YT! Lacy was my first Yorkie and has since passed over Rainbow Bridge to play with the others. I also wasn't looking for a Yorkie. I had lost my Pomeranian and it was easier emotionally to look at a different breed so someone suggested looking at Yorkies. I did and like you it was love at first sight! |

| Welcome to YT. I, too, had never really even considered a Yorkie, but two months after my husband and I married, we got one. I have loved this breed ever since! Our first Yorkie died last year at 15. We now have another one who is just as sweet and fiesty as the first!
