| Should I buy Dog Insurance?? Has any one bought dog insurance from their Vet or through another dog insurance carrier? Are you glad you did? Is it worth it? How much did you pay and what insurance would you recommend? I think the plan I am looking at is $200 for the year and there are discounts on shots, emergencies, etc. Thanks |

| I am a big proponent of insurance. We have VPI and I have stated on other threads how much it has helped with our little girl Lola. If you have any questions pm me and I would be happy to answer them.

| I recently got VPI and paid 300 for the whole year. I got it when Mia was 10 weeks, before she has any "conditions." But I got the premium plan since I wanted it to cover her spay and vet visits. I think its a good idea because you never know what will happen with these fragile little babies.

| I think, like everything, you have to be an informed consumer. I didn't get the insurance because when I priced out the premiums versus what they would actually pay for (even with the premium insurance) I just didn't see the benefit. Sissy's spay was $240 total (including bloodwork). The VPI would pay for spaying, but only covers one major expense per year (either spaying, blood work, or teeth cleaning) and there is a deductible. Once I factored in the cost of the insurance premium, I was going to spend $300 more than I would have to just pay everything myself. The one positive coverage issue is for injuries. But right now, I just can't afford the added expense of an insurance premium just in case. Maybe next year. Although, I do hear that VPI is the best among insurances.
