Donating YT 30K Club Member | Is this normal Cali wil be one year old next week and in the past few weeks she has really settled down. She rarely wants to play with her toys, she sleeps more and she likes to lay around next to my 9 year old Pom. Some nights she will even start the night out under the bed where Maya sleeps before joining me. She seems perky on our walks and is eating normal but she just seems quieter. She does have a bladder infections but she is off the antibiotics and seems to be ok. I am going to take a urine sample in tomorrow to see if the infection is gone and the crystals. She still on meds for the crystals. Has any one else experienced this with their puppy at this age?

| Coco definetely became calmer closer to her 1 yr birthday. She was probably a good 15% calmer than before, sleeping more or being a lap dog more. But the minute I'm ready to play she's ready to play with me. Or when her friends cme over she is real playful but otherwise she lays around alot. I think Cali also has an older influence (9 yr old pom) so she's doing what your pom is doing.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I wish I could tell you something to help - but it could be the medication....hopefully it's working and she's ok but that can cause a change in behaviour - but I would tell the vet this...you know her the best out of everyone and if you think something is a bit off - then maybe it is ? I did notice a change in both mine getting calmer after a year old - but they wake up EARLY and always ready to play. Actually they go to bed ready to play too. Chanel is 4 and can play with her toys round the clock ....while Cheri is a little more of a napper.....Nobella may be right - they do take cues from who they hang with LOL |

| My parents have a 7 year old yorkie and my sister has a 4 year old yorkie...both of them calmed down dramatically around their 1 year birthday. Now they are both very docile and truly "lap" dogs! I hope that Cali is feeling better and that it is not her meds that are making her feel this way. Surely it is Cali just maturing out of her puppy stage. |

| Hope mine doesn't calm down too much. I got my little Yorkie when he was 8 weeks old, (10-months old now), and he is the most laid-back little guy in the world (I'm told he takes after his mother). He certainly loves to run his legs off outside and visit every dog and every neighbor whenever he gets a chance. And he'll run all afternoon with my other dog --- but when he's in the house, he is really a calm little guy and also rarely barks. He does go crazy happy whenever we have company - but then settles down again. This is the way all my dogs have been..... so, I guess dogs are just different. Carol Jean |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali was very lethargic this morning so I took her into the ER vet since my regular vet couldn't get her in until tomorrow. They can't seem to figure it out. They did an ultrasound of her bladder and kidney's which looked normal no stones, she touched her all over no problems except a luxating patella worse on left. She is eating and pooping ok. So they did bloodwork and urine culture. I have to wait a few days for results. SHe is back on an antibiotic. The odd thing is is she refuses to go up or down her little steps, but vet couldn't find anything wrong with her back or legs. i just want her to feel good again!

| Patti, I hope Cali gets better really soon! When they're not feeling well, they're very much like babies - they can't tell us anything about how they feel bad and we hurt for them at least as much as they're hurting. Many, many GET WELL wishes to Cali!!! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali is a little better today as far as she is awake a littel more. She still shows no interest in playing. She has startd to go up an down the stairs by the beds acouple of times today. It is so strange. The vet was so stumped she said she did some tests and a thorough ultrasound but wasn't going to charge me extra because she wants to make sure she has done everything she can think of. Hopefully the blood work and urine culture will tell us more. Thanks for all your concerns!!! It sure helps!

| My little girl started acting like that right before her first heat. Do you think that may be the case? Hope she feels better!!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | No she was spayed but it does seem similar to the way she acted prior to her heat and being spayed.
