Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Grooming ? Hi, I read somewhere (maybe here?) that one should never brush a dry coat, but the Yorkshire coat should be spritzed before brushing. Is that right? Thanks in advance...

| One or two or twenty grooming questions!!! Hello everyone, I am delighted we have a grooming section as this whole grooming lark is not coming easy to either me or poor Poppy!! The main problem I have is the wee pet won't let me near here to tidy her up! I give her a bath weekly and she wiggles like mad to get out and DESTROYS my kitchen...I am talking to her calmly all the time but I just wish there was something I could do to make it a more pleasant experience. Then come the nails....there is no way she will let me near them to trim and even when she is sleeping and I put my finger gently on her paw she pulls back very fast. I am afraid that maybe someone hurt her before. Also when it comes to trim her ears or bottom area...it's a NO GO area!!and I am not going to mention ribbons or bows...!!! If anyone had any advice for me to make things more pleasant for her then I would really appreciate it! Many thanks.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | LOL...I think it's a yorkie trait to be the biggest drama queens they can be when it comes to nails and baths....I'm lucky....mine love baths....well one does. What I did to get them used to the brush was do little massages at night with the brush...not really grooming....just letting them know it FEELS good and get them used to the brush. IT worked great and now I can brush most areas with ease.....but...yorkies have a thing about their FEET ...lol - it's like a rule in my house...Don't TOUCH the feet ! That's the hardest part for me to groom on mine... Here is a great site for doing bows....http://www.yorkies4me.com/topknots.htm I don't bother with double bands but it gives you a good visual |
