| Panting Is This Normal? Wondering if this is normal? When Gizmo runs a short distance ( couple of laps in the house) he starts panting. If he is outside running around he pants. Just seems like he doesn't have to run very far before he starts. He is 5 1/2 months old and weighs about 6 #. Is this normal or should I be worried? After he stops running in a couple of minutes his breathing returns to normal. I have read so much about collapse trachea I am concerned.

| Sounds normal to me. Remember, panting is a cooling mechanism. Dogs don't sweat, and they need to pant to lower body temp. Panting by itself is not a symptom of collapsing trachea, as far as I know. |

| Tank does the same thing and I've wondered this too. He seems to be fine and just because he's panting doesn't mean he won't take off in the other direction when I try to pick him up I assume that since he's not coughing/sneezing too and he's still playing hard he's fine. |
