| Indy is my hero!! Yesterday I was working at my computer in another room and I heard Indy barking and barking. It isn't unusual for him to bark, after all, he is a terrier, but there was something different about the pitch of the barking. I yelled at him to be quiet and usually he does oblige me, if only for a few minutes, but yesterday he wasn't shutting up! I got up and walked into the room and Indy was standing on the sofa staring at my lamp barking, the lamp had smoke pouring out of the top with little flames coming out of the light bulb. About that time the smoke detector went off and I yanked the plug on the lamp. The bulb was one of those energy efficient ones that are spiral fluorescent but screw in an actual light bulb socket. My husband is an annoying energy efficient everything kind of person and had replaced all of our regular light bulbs with this type to save on electric cost. I told him that they definitely weren't saving us any money if they burned the house down!! Anyway, Indy got an extra treat and snuggle from me for warning me that there was something wrong! |

| Indy is a hero!!!!! Way to go! They are amazing. I wonder how they understand danger? Like I know about smoke and fire, electricity and such, but how do our furkids understand these things? They are incredibly intelligent. |

I have taken them all out of my house because it's not worth the risk. That was a close one for you. Lucky you were home.
