| Can someone help? Hello , I am new here . I have been owned by yorkies for 5 years. A few months ago My yorkie penny was bred . Anyway I have been searching everywhere. Can anyone here tell me how long it is before yorkie babies first open there eyes?? I have called my vet but he is gone on an emer. call right now. The pups are 2 weeks old today. There eyes look fine no puffiness or swelling or anything like that. Thanks for your help. __________________

| babies eye opening the eyes should 10-12 days. On the 13th day if still not open take a cotton ball with warm water and lightly rub it over each eye (remember lightly and not a lot of water) don't try to pry them open, they will open in due time. after the 15th day take them to the vet... hope this helps

| It is okay to gently wash your babies' eyes with warm water on a cotton ball but is not necessary. I have had litters whose eyes were open at 10 days. Others not til 15th day. I always figger there is nuthin in the world they need to see...Seriously, a good Yorkie book has more info about the development of a Yorkie puppy than many vets do. Bet by the time you finish reading these posts you can show them to the babies cause their eyes will be open. Of course, we would love to see pics. And, I agree with YorkieRose about your avatar..nice |
