| Mystery solved. She is now a pro! I did a thread a few weeks ago about chloe somehow getting on the other side of the baby gate. I wasnt sure how she managed it and after a few days since she never seemed to try it again, I even convinced myself that I must have put her on the other side and not remembered(It happened early in the moring and I was sleepy). Well she did it again yesterday and I did not imagine it!! We got home and opened the door and there she was in the front entry way which is baby gated off. So I stepped over the baby gate to put our grocerys away and out of the corner of my eye I saw her slip right through the gate. Well I couldnt believe it so I put her on the other side so I could watch it again and sure enough without any trouble at all she walked right through the gates holes(the wood criss crosses and makes little diamond shapes and she walked right though one of the diamonds). She has completely mastered it and I cant even believe she fits through it. Im going to take a video and post it. I have to go out later and buy mesh to put over the gate. I just thought I'd share . She is a complete pro, and I am impressed how smart she is. I thought I was so smart when I baby-gated the front entry way so she couldnt run out the door. I even taunted chloe by saying "Ha, try to get out now". Well she was probobly thinking "woman, you know you cant keep me from getting out, Im smarter than you". And I think she just might be!!

| They are sneaky. My baby is 11 weeks old and she climbs right over her baby gate and climbs out of her play pen, she will only do that if she has to potty and can't get my attention. Example: I was in the tub and did'nt hear her whine, and then this morning I was sleeping and did'nt here her whine, so over she came and she pottied by the back door, I felt bad.. But I have learnt my lesson, at night I close the laundry door where she sleeps and I riged up a baby crib tent over her pay pen to keep her in any time shes in her play pen. My girl can get over anything LOL! |

| What a smart little girl! But I'd like to see her beat you THIS time. I shouldn't say that, because at the rate she is going... she WILL find another way to get out!

| Yes, they are very good at getting to the other side of the gate. Mine used to do that when she was 12 to 13 weeks old but she climbs out instead. She doesn't do that any more as she had learned that I wasn't happy about it. She just wants to keep me happy I think. I heard the type of gate you are using is not safe (the wood cross crosses and makes little diamond shapes). They could get caught in the diamond and hurt themself. If you are going to get a mesh to put over it, please make sure she can’t chew thru it. Yorkie are very good at chewing and I have seen them in action. Otherwise, if you want to get another gate, the one I got (from Wal-Mart in baby section) is called “Supergate III “. The opening is small and it could be used as a pressure gate or you can mount it up as a swing gate if you wish. It is 28” tall I think and the price is very good by the way. Good luck with your little one. I bet she would stop “breaking out” if she knows you don’t appreciate it. Last edited by amyann; 01-29-2006 at 03:24 PM. |

| I am so glad you figured it out. I wonder if she will come up with a new escape with the mesh. Watch out for climbing

| LOL. My little Ida can jump the gate. In fact, we wish we had named her Houdini, because she can find a way out of anywhere. Before we let the rest of the kids out, we let Ida out first, cause if there is anyway at all possible to get out, she's gone. |
