| New Yorkie Puppy questions Okay, so I got my first Yorkie about a year ago during senior year. He never really goes outside really often simply because of fleas, and other things of that nature. Our yard is gated, but we do kind of live close to the woods with plenty of grass. When I got him he was a little older, he already had most of his vacc series so I only had about one or two left to finish Fast foward two years later and im bringing home a new yorkie pup Friday! This one is about 9 weeks old, and only has its first puppy shots so I am a little weary on what to expect. From my understanding she's not to go outside until she's finished her vacc schedule completely? Originally I thought about pad training her but now I am sure I am going to start off by crate training. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yes, I'd keep her very protected until vaccines are completed. You ONLY need the Core Vaccines, remember, which are rabies, distemper, and parvo. Don't let vets talk you into other things!

| If you have a fenced in yard the pup should be OK as long as you monitor her after the second set of shots. In order to contract diseases like parvo, dogs actually have to come into contact with areas where an infected animal has been/ relieved themselves. So no walks, no petstores, and pick the pup up at the vet. |

| I do not suggest setting a puppy that has not had ALL their vaccines outside even if there is a fenced yard. There are still squirrels, chipmunks, mice and other vermin that can get into fenced yards. Keep puppy indoors until she has had ALL her shots.
