| What Grooming Products Do You Use? Hello All! I have a question that may have been asked before but I haven't seen any recent threads about this topic. What shampoo, conditioner, detangler and grooming tools do you currently use? I have two babies ages 1 and 2. Both of their hair is long, silky and pretty much touches the floor (show coat). I've been using Mane 'n Tail for about a year now but I want to try other products because I don't really care for Mane 'n Tail any more. I've also tried Cowboy Magic and Yorkie Splash and a few other brands in the past (I don't really care for those product lines anymore as well). I've been thinking about giving Vellus a try. If you have a moment to respond, please post pictures of your babies coats and please tell me why you recommend what you're using to me. Also, does anyone use vitamins to promote hair growth and healthy skin? If so, which brand and how's it working for you? Thanks! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Haven't tried Vellus, but heard very good things about it. Another one to look into is Iv San Bernard - they are $$$, but have major sales a few times a year and that's when people stock up. Stay away from Mink Sheen, as they do actually use mink oil in their products - and as we all know, mink farms are some of the most horrendously cruel places on the planet . If you want a general vitamin, I'd buy from Natures Farmacy - excellent! As far as specifically for hair growth, the only thing I know of that really promotes that is biotin.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I like bio groom in particular their silk conditioner. Vellus worked well for my other breed did not like it for my Yorkie. San Bernard I loved. You can dilute a conditioner down to use as a grooming spray. I have some pricey brushes that I only use on a clean coat. I have a small isonis brush for everyday. Madan makes good tools as does Chris Christensen. Some folks like all seasons. I have multiple combs. Different tine widths. The most important thing is that your groom tools fit and feel comfy in your hand. Remember to leav conditioner on for at least five minutes and don't rinse it all out.

| I always wanted to try vellus, I don't know how it hasn't happened yet.... right now we use earth bath mango tango shampoo, but it is almost out and even though I love the smell I feel like trying a new shampoo (maybe time to try vellus finally?) and I use bio groom creme rinse after I shampoo- we do wrap in a towel and let it soak in for five minutes as per Gail's suggestion- then rinse thoroughly. We use espree plum perfect farce wash normally but we ran out a little while ago and although I think it would be good to do, it doesn't feel super necessary like it did when lilah was younger. Lilah's coat runs a little cottony (I don't think I truly knew or accepted that until I met a super silky yorkie who never tangled and then I understood) and requires regular consistent brushing to avoid tangles. I use cowboy magic on my own hair and I love it for me. sometimes I use it on lilah too but I use to use it on her alot. We also have four paws magic coat fetangler, bio groom mink sheen conditioner, we use ark naturals eyes so bright too...I really like that product, just kind of like a face splash more than a face wash...we are best friends with a steel comb, we love our mustache comb for our face and couldn't live without it has the steel parting stick on the other side too, I really love our madan pin brush, i have been swearing to get a new one for some time now.
