| Update: Bonding with Kody As many may remember, I adopted a 20 m/o Yorkie from a breeder but I didn't feel "connected" to this little guy. I really did appreciate the advice I received here. I can't explain the uneasiness I felt with my decision. I spoke with the breeder I had gotten my Riley from & after much thought & prayers, with love & support from this breeder that I previously used, I decided to have this breeder take Kody & find a home for him. There are things that I have learned about Kody & his situation that I will not get in to, but I really feel it was best for Kody. It wasn't/isn't an easy decision, but I strongly feel it is best both for him & my family. This uneasy feeling is gone & I feel positive about my decision. From this breeder/Riley's breeder, I did decide to get a male puppy & we all are extremely happy about our decision. I felt the "connection" with him immediately. He came home with us Monday. The "fit" with us is like a day & night difference than what we had with Kody (which I say with a saddened heart), but again I truly feel was the right choice.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | That has got to be one of. T.he hardest decisions a n owner can make. Good for you. You made a tough call. A friend of mine went through a similar tough choice. I kknow that she deeply felt A sense of failure. Not being able to train or, trust him. Not seeming to have enough time to exercise him. He has been happily rehomed.

| Thank you everyone for your support. It does tear my heart out doing this but I truly feel Kody will be better off with the RIGHT fit. I do feel he may always show signs of not receiving the attention he so deserved. I had a 6 mo. old Shih Tzu that had been confined to a cage most of his 6 mo. life & although he made immense strides in overcoming this he was always very anxious & stressed very easily. (You wouldnt believe how he was when I got him.) Please just pray for Kody to find a perfect home. Bless my breeder for taking him & finding him that home.

| You had to make a very difficult, nigh-onto-impossible, decision and you absolutely made the right choice! Good for you to be so clear-headed and compassionate, thereby able to make life better for all involved; there truly are things that are and are not meant to be...You came through in a very positive way when you needed to...Enjoy your 'right' life and I'm quite certain you've given Kody the ability to find his...! |
