| Yorkies tails are mostly docked in the US, but in Europe it is against the law. They are very cute with tails, too! Pictures please!!

| Most are docked, but I know for some Breeds that's going to change. I have no idea why they started it in the first place. OUCH!!! I bet it hurts! Who ever did start it, should have their tail docked! We would love to see pictures, tails or not, they are all so very cute.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | My tails are docked but I'm seeing more and more of them being not docked. It's a personal preference here in the States. Personally, I like the docked tail look.

Don't worry as time goes on you will start to see more dogs in the US be in their natural mode. Europe and Australa have banned ear cropping and tail docking. It will eventually get here. P.S. I would love to get a Yorkie with a tail

| I did learn a little more about the history - for docking tails. It seems that many working breeds (hunting dogs - our little terriers, etc.) were better able to perform the work that they were bred to do -- with shorter tails. Their longer tails impeded the work they needed to - going through thick vegetation, burrowing into small areas, etc. So for many decades - the tails of many working breeds were docked. However - more recently, many of these dogs have become "only pets or show dogs" -- and it is no longer need to have their tails docked. And - because it is no longer necessary - it is becoming more popular (and more sensible not to do it.) I, -- who have been in love with all breeds for more than 60 years, have become so used to seeing certain breeds with docked tails - that some breeds just don't look "quite right" to me with longer tails. However, I am in total in agreement with stopping this unnecessary practice. And, I'm sure I can soon get used to all dogs with longer tails. Carol Jean |

| I hope the practice of tail docking is outlawed here very soon...I feel we are barbaric and cruel to do this to these babies just for personal preference in looks. I love a yorkie with a tail!! |
