| Ombre yorkie I was just curious if any of your yorkie's had ombre hair? Capone's hair turns from black to blue/silver on his back. |

| Cody is 5 yo and is going through this now. He was silver before his grooming, we did the puppy cut, now he's mostly black with spots of grey here and there, weird looking with a short cut lol.

| I never thought of it as being ombre, but yes, both of our Yorkies have darker roots and lighter hair.

| Now that you mention it, i think capone's might be dark grey too. I was trying to figure that out when i posted this thread. It might just be the contrast that makes it look like black. I dont think i have ever clipped him that short to know for sure. |

| My Abby (5) has black roots, altho a little less silver than your pup. I think some of it is fading due to our strong sun and swimming in chlorine. But we have just been thru winter and she still has an inch of black. I don't cut her short like Ziva because her coat is very fine and light and just looks better with a little length and wave plus the color variation is so pretty. Her legs and head are also quite light blonde compared to Ziva's rich tan. |

| Beautiful! At first I thought this was going to be a thread about a new type of designer Yorkie. Teddy's hair is the same way. Comes in darker and turns lighter. He had the reverse in his puppy coat. Looked like his blonde and silver had been dipped in black ink.

| I think Cooper's coat is going to stay black. Any others have yorkies with black coats not turning the beautiful silver coat? |

| I thought black coats were accepted in the yorkie coat color standards? I know some yorkie owners who prefer the black to the blue/silver coloring. |

| There are lots of Yorkies who retain darker colors almost all of their lives. Usually it is more noticeable in Yorkies with slightly longer coats. Well within standard. The black is often a very dark steel blue that you can see in direct sunlight. Max's saddle is still pretty dark at age 7.

| Daisy is the same way! Just opposite. Her fur is basically white at the roots and fades into brownish black! |
