| so worried So my almost 6 month Chewie keeps hacking and gagging like trying cough something up. At first I wrote it off as he found a crumb on the floor that irritated his throat or playing too hard etc., but since it's been going on for awhile I made an appointment for tomorrow and then today he starts wheezing and more pronounced hacking. I really hope it's nothing serious, I'm terrified and will probably get no sleep tonight. I just want to take him in now.

| Thank you. Now he is drooling and his whole little face is wet. If anyone knows anything about what I should do please let me know. He is sleeping peacefully but I am really freaked out.

| Does he have any allergies or has he been anywhere that he could have picked up kennel cough, get to the vet as they can check him out but try not to worry to much. Our little Lottie got kennel cough from going to a dog training class and our vet recommended tixylix and it worked don't get the sugar free one as it has xylitol in it. They vet may give him Benadryl but best speak with them first.

| I take him some places but nothing dog specific like a dog park, and outside of our yard I always hold him since he's so tiny. I have taken him to pet stores though not lately, and always held him but I guess there is still a chance of kennel cough. I've never come across this situation and now I'm freaking out and want to get to the vet now :/

| Try not to get too worried the fact that he is sleeping peacefully is good you can call your vet for advice and they may tell you what to give him meantime, do a search on here for kennel cough or for first age measures there are good resources and people with a wealth of knowledge like Yorkimom 1 to Lady Jane who can give you more advice.

| As far as I can tell the drooling started today. I noticed his face was greasy, or so I thought, so I gave him a bath. Well, his little face never completely dried and I was baffled, but thought again he was just being a little doggy getting his face wet from drinks etc. Tonight before I went to bed he started hacking alot like he was going to throw up, so I decided we should go to bed for the night so he could relax. Then I noticed his blanket was damp and that's when I finally figured it out, but it had gotten significantly worse after going to bed.

| Check his gums to see if they are pink , if they are white and sticky he could be dehydrated .

| His gums look normal, and his drool is clear but seems thick if that makes sense.

| When is your vet appointment , try and take note of when his problem started and any information you can think of , if he had any different type of food or treat , if he was chewing any toys or chew sticks , before it all, started , if he has been sick or poohed take a sample if it with you so your vet can get a full picture if what is going on with him, but stay calm.
