I use a wipe which is a small tissue that has a rough surface and it is soaked in a tartar reducing yummy tasting liquid. Tessa likes them quite well and I can use my finger wrapped in the pad to really get at those back teeth and scrub with the abrasive surface! I will look to see the brand name and let you know if you are interested.

I don't want to highjack your thread, but has anyone here used pet kiss? My groomer says it is liquid you put in with their water to clean their teeth? I can bathe her, brush her, put in a top knot, carry her around in my purse, all day road trip in her car seat but she HATES when I try to brush her teeth and clamps closed her mouth! So frustrating but I have tried very toothpaste and different tooth brushes, nothing has worked.

Hi Lovestiny, I use something called "Healthy Mouth" which is good for cats and dogs and you put it in the water for them. My vet ordered it for me as she said it was the only one really proven to remove stains and the like from teeth. The ones you buy in the pet store I gather don't do the trick but who really knows. Tessa will let me use the teeth cleaning wipes in her teeth no problem and, like your Yorkie, she is good for anything BUT having her nails clipped.. so, we are similar but not exact to you. In fact, we are dropping by the vet this morning to have her nails clipped. I guess they all have one thing they won't tolerate!

My Vet recommended the Virbac C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews for Petite Dogs chews. I give Annie 1/2 of a chew every night and her teeth look great! She hates the toothbrush or wipes. Here's the Amazon link: Amazon.com : Virbac C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene...
