YT 500 Club Member | Breathing Weird So I went away for two days and my brother in law slept over with Sammie. He said he did not eat much. When we got home. He was excited to see us and I took him for a walk and he didnt seem to want to go. Then he was playing in the back yard and he was panting a lot. He never pants. But I noticed when his mouth was closed I could see his belly like where the penis is going in and out real deep. I know you can see there stomach move when they breath but this was like he was breathing in real deep. He was acting fine just still panting on and off for an hour and then his stomach movement went back to normal and the panting stopped. I wonder if I should be concerned. |

| I agree. Panting from being over heated or excessive exercise is normal. Panting other than that is concerning. I would get to the vet especially since you said he also had lack of appetite . My dog pants when he is in pain. I have also heard of panting when coping with an injury or illness. Or in stress of some kind. Please let us know what the vet says. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. |

YT 500 Club Member | We did go for a walk and he was running around the back yard like a nut when the panting began It was warmer then usual here yesterday. He ate fine once I came home. He just does not like to eat when I am not around. I was just concerned why I could see him breathing when I looked at his stomach. After an hour his stomach was not going in and out as much when he was breathing. |

| It has been a little warmer that last 2 days. If you notice him panting a lot when it he has not been active or in the heat then he probably should be seen by a vet. If the muscles that are right under the ribs (you see them in between the ribs)can be seen constricting when he breaths then I would be concerned. That is an indication of some respiratory distress. I don't think that is what you are describing though. Just keep a close watch. If anything seems strange it is better to error on the side of caution than to let something go unchecked. |
