| Is my yorkie real? Hey guys, (i meant to put is my yorkie pure breed, ignore my typos ) i have a 4 year old Yorkshire terrier named Coco. i never really doubted his breed considering i got him from a breeder a few years back. The day i got him, he was 6 months old; the breeder showed me his parents which both appeared to be both yorkies. She claimed Cocos mother was a show dog and has "champion blood", yet i got coco for a pretty cheap price. ($600) she gave me a booklet of all his vaccinations, but told me she would "mail" his AKC papers to my house. I never did receive anything from her, i gave her a call after many years, (i know stupid of me) to see if i can get a copy of his AKC papers. She told me she sent them and if i never received them, then its not her problem anymore. Many people question Cocos breed, and think he is a mutt. Many people tell me that yorkies are supposed to be 5-6 pounds, silky long hair, tan- to black coat. 7-8 inches tall from the shoulder. however, coco is a whopping 10 pounds, (i dont over feed him) he has silky head, but a wooly coat on the rest of his body.. what do you guys think? could he be full breed? or a mutt? | I vote REAL Yorkie. Even if you can't get the AKC certificate, the breeder should be able to provide you with the registration numbers of your dog and its parents so you can look them up yourself on the AKC website. But if the breeder is lying about AKC registration, your dog still looks like a purebred Yorkie to me. If you're still concerned, you could do a Wisdom Panel DNA test for about $80 that would give you a 90%+ degree of certainty. |

| Looks very Yorkie to me. Even "registered" Yorkies have different weights and different hair textures. He looks like a cutie!

| My baby is 4 months the lady insisted he's pure she just quit doing paperwork but everyone insists he's not pure due to his curly fur! The vet also said they don't get over 5 lbs! I still consider him pure!

| Haha my little baby was 6.4 lbs when his vet told me this! Now his last visit was 8.8 and he has his final series next week I'm scared to see the vets reaction to how fat he's getting!

| I have had people say that about my yorkie because her hair is cottony on top and real blonde and she is around 10 also, but she is pure breed and just bigger than some, just like her human mommy
