| First trip to the dog park After Lexi did so well with the other dogs at her obedience class I decided to check out the local dog park today. The walk just to get to the park was about 5-10 minutes, but was nice and along the lake. I had never even seen the dog park before since you can't actually see it from where the parking lot is. When we got there, no dogs there at all! I took Lexi off her lease to at least run around and she just stood next to me. Poor baby had no one to play with. Oh well, maybe next time! |

| Cuddles will stand by me at the dog park no matter how many dogs are there. She isn't the social type. LOL The only reason I go to the dog park so often is because of Cookie and my standard poodle Beau. Cookie loves to run around the dog park even if there is no one there. Beau likes me to throw a ball to him.

| Buster doesn't like the small dog park, he would rather be with the big dogs but that's not possible. He's too small, the big dogs are too big, too fast and would hurt him. Maggie doesn't like the small dog park or the big dog park. Usually there aren't any small dogs for them to play with.

| We have taken Gizmo the dog park and he loves it. He runs right in and goes up to all the dogs even the ones bigger than him, most are. It's cute to see him go up to the bigger ones cuz he will stop about 2 feet away and lay down and then crawl over to them. Our first day was not a good day for me. There was a dog that looked like a mini husky, forgot what he was, we'll call him "the Bully". The Bully would come up to Gizmo and Gizmo would lay down as he does with bigger dogs and the Bully would stand over him. The Bully would growl and seemed to want to bite Gizmo's throat. I was very concerned and the owner said that's the way they play. When Gizmo couldn't get up I picked him up and move to another part of the park. Sure enough the Bully would find Gizmo and do the same while his owner just watched with a grin on his face. Again I moved Gizmo. After the third time, the Bully did the same to Gizmo and Gizmo couldn't get up and Gizmo starting showing his little teeth and growling which made the Bully growl more and continue to act like he was going to bite Gizmo's neck, THAT WAS IT FOR ME! I said, "No-No! Get your dog!" I picked up Gizmo and he said "That's just the way the play" and I responded with "Not with my dog and keep your dog away from him!" and I walked off with Gizmo! I think the Bully had little dog syndrome (like his owner) cuz he didn't do it with dogs his size but only to the small dogs. THe Bully tried doing it to another dog that was just a little smaller than him and that dog went right back at him which made the Bully walk away. We have been back to the park since, but not at the same time as the first time, and Gizmo has a blast with the dogs. He just goes up to the dogs and kisses them but hasn't figured out how to play chase. The dogs run up to him and he gets excited and then they run away and stop cuz he's not chasing them. |

We are going to try another dog park nearby next time. One that I don't have to walk 10 minutes to and I can see from the road and see if there are dogs there. Hopefully there will be no bullies there. You would think the owner would be more concerned about what her dog was doing. The dog could have easily bit your dog or another dog. | |

| We go to the small dog park here and my two love it! Sometimes there are no other dogs, so I play fetch with Couver and Khloe runs around like a crazy girl. We haven't been going lately because it has been over 100 degrees, but we'll start going again next week when it cools down.
