| ![]() I haven't been on this site since February, but wanted to update everyone on the status of the 8 Morkie pups born in January, as well as to thank everyone for the advice we received from people on this site. I'm happy to report that all of the puppies made it and came through happy and healthy. All of them have been adopted by fantastic families, most of whom we know on a first name basis. They are cuter than cute, full of more energy than the Energizer Bunny, and have great personalities. A quick recap: My girlfriend and I half adopted, half rescued, a male Yorkie and a female Maltese last November, only to figure out later that she was already 3 weeks pregnant. On January 6th of this year, Lily, the Maltese, gave birth to 8 Morkie puppies, 4 of them female, 4 male. One of the females, Olive, did have have me concerned as she had a bout with 'fading puppy syndrome'. A quick trip to the vet for medicine and advice, along with bottle feeding her and giving her a jump start on eating puppy food, all helped to cure her of that syndrome. The family that adopted her talk about how she's into jumping on couches and tables, generally tearing around, inside and out, and getting into all sorts of puppy mischief. It's makes me so proud of her to hear that news. My girlfriend and I started a Facebook page just so the owners of the puppies can post stories and pictures to share with everyone. The page is: https://www.facebook.com/octopuppies Anyone is welcome to check it out and see how the dogs are doing. Though, I will admit that the puppies seem to have more of a 'Maltese' look to them, more so than the 'Yorkie' look. Thanks again to everyone who posted advice back in January and February. |

| ![]() I looked at all their photos on Facebook... they are so cute. Nice that you found homes for all, and many families will love and enjoy them.

| ![]() Oh and another note: Pepper, the father, was neutered in January and Lily was spayed in April. So, unfortunately, or perhaps more fortunately for me as birthing puppies was a lot of work, there will be no more Morkie puppies from this pair. These two, along with my girlfriends 9 year old Yorkie female, are now enjoying their time in our fenced-in back yard as happy, active dogs. Lily's parental duties are over. Sometimes, I swear that the male was never allowed outside before we rescued him. He so enjoys running through the grass, barking at squirrels, and having a look of wonderment at every sight and sound outside. At times, he looks like he's smiling. I kind of wish I knew him better before we got him. The way he prances around in the grass reminds me of a Clydesdale horse. Had I known that prior to his rescue, his name might have been Prancer! |

| ![]() Sounds like it has all worked out so nicely. I can just imagine the joy of having these fur kids running around in the yard, being great companions, and not having to be "parents" ever again. Good job.
