| Introducing Louie! And: is my Yorkie oversized? Not sure. Hello folks! My fiancé and I managed to get a beautiful Yorkie called Louie. His family were moving abroad and couldn't take him with them. They really will miss him a lot, the kids didn't want to see him go! He's very happy and playful and friendly, loves everyone and everything! I was wondering whether Louie is considered an oversized Yorkie or not. He is 17.6lbs (which is MUCH bigger than the average Yorkie) but he isn't fat. Here is an album with him Louie - Imgur How big are your Yorkies? Is mine oversized, or even a Yorkie at all?! Thanks in advance! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and WELCOME ! The breed standard for yorkies is they should be 7 lbs or less. Yours is still a yorkie, he's just out of standard.

| Thank you very much! That makes more sense. I was wondering if he was mixed or what was going on, because he seems HUGE compared to other Yorkies haha |

| Keno is 14 lbs Yorkie, just not standard Yorkie. Good looking boy, his coloring is very much like Keno also. How tall is Louie, Keno is tall and has long legs. |

| Thanks everyone! Good to know, I shall affectionately call him my 'monster Yorkie' now haha! From paw to top of shoulder (so his back), he is 12'' tall, is that tall for a Yorkie? |

| Louie is quite the handsome yorkie. We need to have a weigh-off between he and Jackson for king of the teapots!

| Yes I think that is tall, Keno is 12 inches tall also, he has these long skinny legs. He has stayed dark like Louie. Keno goes up and down in weight, depending on the season. We are in Florida in the winter and he will go up in weight. In Michigan we have a fenced yard so he goes down in weight from chasing the squirrels and rabbits. |

| When the breed was being developed, larger terriers were used and they have been bred down in size over the years. But those genes still lurk here and there, and if you get the right egg and sperm together, you get a genetic throw-back. I have one that is 15 lbs and another 16 lbs, and they are lean. I call my 16 lb girl "yorkzilla."
