| When is a yorkie at adult weight My yorkies will be 7 weeks tomorrow. And I hate how small they are. I'm just scared to pick them up because of how fragile they are. I am just ready for them to be at their adult weight!!! Can someone please tell me when yorkies typically hit their adult weight? Or.. In other words.. When they hit the weight that they're gonna be the rest of their life?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It usually happens around 6 mths - that's when their weight settles, generally. No wonder you're scared, your kiddo is only 7 weeks...they actually should *not* be taken from their Mommas until they are 12 weeks old. Is your kiddo doing okay...eating okay and everything? Please be very, very, very careful and attentive with her - if you see *anything* going wrong w/ her, get to the vet ASAP bc at her age, anything going wrong could result in tragedy.

| Some Yorkies are genetically programmed to develop later. My boys are full brothers and each had a big growth spurt as late as 11 months of age.

Since you asked about weight do you know their weight now. I would think it would be good to start a puppy book and keep a record of that type of info.

Barney weighed 4.5 pounds at 6 months and now (17 months) weighs around 5.5. So, if Gizmo follows a pattern like Sir Barnabas, he will end up around 6 pounds. Although I really think Barney will end up closer to 7. He still seems pretty thin. Little booger, he thinks he's 70 pounds and the king of the world.

| Jackson weighed 6lbs already at 12 weeks old. He stayed at about 12lbs from about 6 months old until a little over a year when he had a growth spurt and now he maintains at about 17lbs. He's in good shape, too, skinny/active/muscular/etc. He's just a big boy.

| Rosie weighed 2 lbs 6 oz at 6 months and she now weighs 3 lbs 2 oz at over a year old. She definitely filled out as she got older. Her overall size stayed pretty much the same, she's just not as skinny as she was before, which is a great thing! She was so bony and tiny, I hated it! Luma was like 5 lbs, maybe? And she ended up being like 8 lbs at 2 years old...I dunno, I guess she's a fatty. She is very tall and long, and is built really sturdy. My little porker but really, I LOVE Luma's size and much prefer it over Rosie's. Luma is just the right size to be used as my personal pillow (against her will) LOL At 7 weeks, your babies surely have lots more growing to do.

| ^^ I agree that many Yorkies tend to fill out in their second year as they develop muscle. My boys grew in height and length at 11 months, in the growth spurt I indicated above.

| My Troy stayed at 2.5 pounds for the first year. From 13 weeks until about 10 months he was 2.5 pounds then had a growth spurt in the second and ended up staying at 4.5 pounds.

| One the exhibitors who used to frequent this forum had a girl who was the same way. She was really tiny her entire first year and had a big growth spurt during her second year.
