| What do I do? So as some of you know I brought home a third dog a few days ago. He is awesome, but we live in a small 1 bedroom apartment and DH thinks our hands are full. Last night Tails would not go to bed, he was up whining and panting and acting stressed out. We have been keeping him in our living room in a nice big bed but it's hard because my two are used to roaming free, going to the living room to drink/pee if they need to. DH is not warming up to Tails at all and I just don't think I can love him enough for the both of us. Tails is a nice dog but we do have our hands full but I love him. I brought Tails back to the shelter but I am having secodn thoughts, my heart is breaking for him back there. I worry he will be here for a while not getting adopted or the wrong people will want him because he is super cute and they won't think about the long term of adopting a 12 year old dog. I am so sad. If I knew the perfect person would come for him I would glady let him have a better life with someone with more time for him but what if there is no perfect person? I don't know what to do

| That's a terrible situation. Could you keep him and try to find a new home for him yourself? |

| Our family has always had dogs but we've never had as many as we have right now. We started with Bianca (maltese), and she belongs to my daughter (although she was just a family pet until recently). Then I got Dallas (yorkie) and my husband wasn't happy about a 2nd one, but with time he came to think of Dallas as the.best.dog.ever. Seriously, he loves Dallas more than me or any of our kids, I swear! lol I got Mika (yorkie mix) for my other daughter, since she really, really wanted a dog. Hubby thought we had enough dogs. I wanted a female yorkie and we got Lola (who died right after we got her, she had gotten parvo in her original home). I was distraught so when I picked out another female, he was on board, but not excited about it. He didn't have much to do with her at first. But he likes that she's spunky. Her and Dallas play and although Dallas is 8 lbs and Rory is only 2 lbs, she doesn't take any crap from him. He would watch her play and little by little, he warmed up. Then one day he scooped her up and started petting her and said "Why don't you ever come see Daddy? Daddy likes to pet you too!" Now (and I've lost track of how long I've had her but I'd say about 2 months) he will give her a kiss before he leaves or goes to bed. He tells her he loves her ALL the time. We have a big home, so we have more room for all of our dogs and maybe your husband won't be just like mine and warm up to your baby, but there could be hope. I admire you for wanting the best life for him. I know it has to be hard to make a decision like this. Please keep us updated on what you choose to do. |

| I just want to what's best for him, we could keep him but he would not have as much attention and he deserves so much more than we can offer him. He loves to be outside and go for car rides and be with his person all the time, I wish I were retired I would be perfect for him. I don't know....I might see how the weekend goes without him and go from there. This has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do but it seems selfish of me to keep him if someone else out there would be a better fit.

| Have you thought about fostering him until you can find him the perfect home? He certainly would be getting more attention at your house than the shelter. Did you not think about what three would be like before you adopted him? I know that having one dog was a lot in an apartment... I could not imagine three! I personally could not live with myself if I dropped him back off at the shelter. Shelters are scary and stressful for dogs.

| It sounds like he doesn't want to be in the living room sleeping away from you He's most likely used to sleeping with someone OR he's been so neglected in the past that now that he's gotten a good taste of some human Love, he just wants more. I would think he'd be getting passed up for adoption because of his age. The thought of this poor little old man sitting in the shelter all alone with no person/people to love is making me absolutely nauseous. Have you tried any Yorkie Rescues ? I'd be on the next plane to get if I didn't have a male already that will NOT tolerate a new male. Someone has got to get him out of that shelter |

| I don't think you have much chance of getting him back if you already returned him to the shelter. I know that around here, they wouldn't let you "re-adopt" him after bringing him back.

| I work at the shelter, they would let me have him back and its really one of the best shelters I've ever been to or seen. Still my heart broke last night, I could hardly sleep but I don't know if being with us would be that much better. He hates the crate so I had to put him in the living room as I can't trust him free roaming yet.

| Great news! Fritzl/Tails got adopted. Just as I was agonizing over what to do this wonderful lady came in who had another old yorkie and had the time and means to care for another. I knew it, I felt it in my heart that he had another home out there for him, one with lots of people to love him, a nice yard to play in and a big bed to sleep in. He is sure to be spoiled rotten and she promises to send pictures. I felt really great about it, I even gave her a big hug and gave Fritzl a hug goodbye, telling him how lucky he was and how happy he would be in his new home. I am SO happy for him, I just knew in my soul as much as I loved him that letting him go was the right thing to do. I loved him too much to keep him, it would have been unfair to him, he got the home he deserves!
