| I do some of the grooming myself. I sometimes trim her length a bit during the summer months and taper up her legs. I might shorten her facial hair a little now and then and keep her butt trimmed up. Of course she gets a bath weekly. She goes to the groomer about every 4 or 5 months and I just try to keep it looking neat between visits. Before I found this groomer I did it all my self and I did most of it with scissors. The only time I need help is when I am doing her length. She doesn't like to stand still so I have someone steady her for me so I can get it even. Oh, and I have someone help me when i do her nails, too. I use electric clippers on her ears. She does not like it a bit. It took a while to get her used to the sound they make. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I do all the grooming, myself. I use a scissors all over, except for the ears and feet. Teeka is left longer, Tatiana has a semi- puppy cut....just not as short. Max is cut the same length all over.

| I do all the grooming myself. It's a great bonding experience & I trust myself more than I'd trust a groomer. Plus I save lots of money! My dogs are silky, so it's easy to just cut the length I want, then shave ears, feet & butt. Dolly gets a weekly bath & Teena every 4 days (allergies).

| Clipper for body and parts of legs. Face, paws, sensitive areas, I use scissors. Nail, I'm too scared so I get that done at petsmart. I'm not very good per say, but at least they don't have to be crated until their turn comes up. Also, as others have said: I trust myself more than I do any groomers. Nothing personal but after seeing too many articles on how careless/heartless some groomers were, I'm more paranoid about taking them in unless I can actually SEE them being worked on with care with my own two eyes. |

| Yes, there are way too many dogs being injured or getting just plain awful haircuts at the kind of grooming mills that have popped up all over the place. I would never take Gracie to most groomers. We did find a place that was highly recommended (although that alone would not impress me) I did know someone that took their Shih Tzu there for many years and the owner breeds and shows Shih Tzu's herself. She usually insists that her clients bring their dog in every 6 weeks because she know that most owners don't groom their dogs in between appointments. She lets me bring Gracie when I feel she is ready for a beauty treatment because she knows I keep her clean and trimmed up in between visits. I suppose I could do it all myself but Gracie enjoys going and playing with the other dogs. They have a small doggies daycare so she does not have to be crated and they only do small breed dogs on a limited basis. |
