| Is he still growing? So Piyo will be 9 months old on the 14th, he only weighs 4.2 lbs and I was wondering if he's done growing? I haven't noticed him getting much bigger lately and I've never have a dog this small before. I was told smaller dogs stop growing at a younger age than larger dogs who grow up until they're 2 years old. When I got him I was told he would be 6 lbs...I'm kind of scared because he's so fragile! I love him to pieces but was just wondering if he's still growing and has just hit a plateau? |

| Supposedly they stop growth in like dimensions as far like height and length but can still gain a little weight so he'll feel a little sturdier and a little less delicate.

| He'll most likely continue to grow and fill-out until he is a year and a half or so. Mandie really didn't get any taller or longer after 8 or 9 months, but she has continued to fill-out and put on muscle and weight. For example, at 1 year old, she was 6 lbs and a couple of weeks ago (at 16 months), she is 6 1/2 lbs. She was a little over 5 lbs at 6 months old.

I agree that they continue to fill out/build muscle in their second year. In terms of general growth, it's all about genetics. Typically, Yorkies are full grown at 8 months. My boys are full brothers and both had late growth spurts at 11 months. They are unusual though.

| Okay thank you everyone! Hopefully he starts filling out more, he's just so aggressive when he plays with my Boston (who just sits there and puts up with him!) that I'm afraid he's going to hurt himself when he jumps or something because he's so fragile |
