| Never a Dull Moment So, I have an 10 year old yorkie, that I have had since a pup, Lincoln, and I can't believe I am only finding this forum now! I have enjoyed browsing your posts, mostly smirking, as, it seems that the group has some of the same trials and tribulations that only yorkie owners can relate to and find endearing. About two years before I got Lincoln, I was walking my VERY well behaved, sweet and gentle cocker spaniel when this tiny little doggie came running down the street...it's owner was screaming "Shredder, come Shredder" and running as fast as she could...she yelled "grab him " to me in a panic. I laughed so hard at the scene and as I scooped up the little guy and handed it back to his mom, I remember thinking - "I bet that dog is a lot of work, but there is NEVER a dull moment at that house." We walked past Shredder's house everyday, and more and more funny things happened, like he hated my son's bike and tried to attack the wheels once. It was a strange experience for me because I always admired owners of very well behaved, simple natured dogs, until I met Shredder, the yorkie terrorist....So, I finally got a yorkie of my own, and life has yet to be the same. Sweet Molly the lovely cocker spaniel, gets tortured daily by him - like for example, he guards the food bowl and makes her wait until his mood changes for her to eat. He runs away, like a bolt of lightening, whenever he sees a window of opportunity, and he puffs out his chest and walks around town like he is the mayor. I may be a terrible owner to a self important, macho little dog, but I must say he makes me laugh every day, even Molly seems to be entertained by his personality. He is soft and gentle with kids, an amazing snuggle buddy, and is always sunning himself or laying by the fire. Whether he has known you for years or met you a minute ago, you can find him perched in your lap, tickling your ear. I look forward to sharing experiences with you all, and learning from you. Yorkies are challenging dogs that only people who have experienced first hand can understand, so thank you for creating and participating in a great forum... |

| Welcome to YT! Lincoln sounds like he is a lot of fun, and I can relate to the neighbor yelling for you to catch shredder! Huey was caught once by the pizza delivery guy (who actually had a yorkie, too) and once at the beach when we thought we finally had him trained to be off leash...uh...nope. Not gonna try that again They are a lot of fun, and my Huey was almost 4 before I found this forum myself . I am still learning things every day, so welcome & soak it all in. Lots of very passionate and knowledgeable yorkie people here.
