| getting fixed My louie is going to be fixed tomorrow. I thought hes 5 1/2 mo but realized hes only 4 1/2 mo. Our vet advised us not to neuter him until he's 8 mo but i'd rather get it done early. Is 4 1/2 mo too soon? |

| I have seen many males neutered at that age. A lot depends on the size of the pup. BUT...one thing I might mention is that it often is better to wait because if they have retained teeth those can be removed at the same time...you won't know that at this age. If he ends up with them, you will be having to anesthetize him again in a few months.

| I would wait until at least 6 months. That also gives the pup time to lose all the baby teeth they can so you know which ones to get pulled or he might have to go under again to get that done.
