| Teeth Brushing How hard is it to brush a puppy's teeth? Do I brush everyday or do I give him the little dental treats? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I was feeding Clyde dental treats because brushing his teeth is next to impossible. However, dental treats alone did not keep his teeth healthy. They started to get serious plaque build up ... brushing his teeth is really difficult and he always struggles and fights it but his teeth are healthier now. Dexter on the other hand LOVES having his teeth brushed. He doesn't struggle. I exposed him really gently to the toothbrush and at a really slow pace and praised him and gave him treats when he did well. There are a lot of dental options out there, though. I'm sure other members of this site will have some great advice for you ... brushing dogs teeth, with the occasional visit to the vet to have teeth checked, seem to keep my dogs teeth very healthy. Depending on yours dogs temperament and exposure to teeth brushing I think will determine how difficult it will be to brush his teeth. Every Yorkie has a different reaction. There is also a really nice foam dental cleaning that you put in their mouth! I forget what it is called, but it doesn't require you to brush their teeth, it keeps their breath fresh, and it fights plaque build up on the teeth.
