| Is my Yorkie really a Yorkie? Hi my name is Stephanie and I am new to this site. I adopted this cute little male puppy from a friends neighbor who couldn't take care of him. They showed me pictures of the parents and assures me they were both purebred yorkies. I don't not care what he is or isn't but I'm just wondering if he is a true yorkie. Right now he is 4 months old and weighs about 5.2 pounds. He is very energetic, loyal, and smart. He knows sit, lay down, up, and if he does something wrong he knows to go in bed lol. The picture I uploaded is what he looked like since I first got him. He was mostly black and tan but with a little patch of white hair on top of his head. Just recently I took him to get his hair cut a little shorter and his hair is now more of a dusty grey black color. I tried to upload more pictures but they were too big. Thank you so much. | He's adorable! He might be a mix, but the only way to know for sure is to do a dog breed test on him.

| He looks pure to me. Kind of a teddy looking yorkie. As mentioned you would need to test if you want certainty. Also their colors change a bit as they age (if you didn't know) the white is normal as you described.

| He is very cute. But there really is no real way to tell if he is pure or not unless he has AKC papers and even then those can be forged or fake.

| He's a cutie. It's hard to tell when they are young if they are really purebred and there are people who will argue with you about it anyway. He looks like a Yorkie to me. Did his ears go up for you? Sometimes having the fur shaved on the ears helps them to stand up. The weight of all that fur kind of holds them down sometimes. Maybe now that he has a hair cut they went up? It's not a deciding factor. Some Yorkies just don't have strong enough ears to stand. At any rate they are cute either way. |

| What a little cutie! Keep watching the changes...or DNA test if you really want to know for sure. Brody is almost 3 and still changing color. Mia is also almost 3...6 days older than Brody, golden and doubtful will change again, having lost all her puppy black...but quite stunning!

| I like that haircut! He reminds me of my little Colby. Maybe your puppy is Yorkie mixed with Maltese? Kind of looks like it to me. Like everyone mentioned, only way to know for sure is to do the DNA test. |

| like you said you love him anyway, he looks like many Yorkies I know. I think when he gets a little older you would see better if there was indeed a mix in there |

| Because there are so many breeders not breeding to the standard the yorkies out there have many different looks. I think hes an out of standard yorkie which is pretty common one of mine is too
