| What will I need for my new yorkie? I just bought my yorkie puppy on Friday. She can't come home for two weeks because right now she's only1.6 pounds! So anyway though what is a basic list of things I'll need for when I bring her home? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | One of the purchases I'm most happy with is a car seat because it can also be used as a small kennel.Snoozer Roll Around Travel Pet Carrier - Pet Carriers with Wheels - Pet Travel Center We crate trained Joey, meaning he slept in the kennel overnight and once or twice during the night and in the morning I placed him on a pee pad. During the day we kept him in x pen with a bed and pee pad. He really trained himself this way. When he was out of the x-pen, my eyes were glued on him and a pee pad was never far away. Cheerios are a great treat to aid in potty training, not many calories, so they don't fill them up and keep them from eating their food. I also used cheerios when grooming. Minimum grooming supplies are a good pin brush, I like the wooden pin brushes, a good steel comb, and a rat tail comb, it helps make a part should you decide to have your Yorkie in a topknot. Toothbrush and CET toothpaste, they will lose these baby teeth, but getting them use to tooth brushing is important. You just want them to get use to it these first few months. Of course you need food, and it's best to keep them on the breeder’s food for the first month at least, so that you can see if tummy upsets are caused by an illness or a food switch. Another purchase I’m glad I made was a pack of receiving blankets from Target. I took these to the breeder and had her wipe her hands on them and she also wiped the mother with them. I kept the blankets in a plastic bag and used one with Joey, if he peed on it, I could wash it and put it back in the bag with the other blankets to refresh the scent. I really think this helped him. Also, you will need to decide on a housebreaking plan, if you are using pee pads, I recommend washable pee pads if you have a machine, but many people here use disposable pee pads and are happy with them. Good luck and have a fun! Oh yeah, you need a camera! I forgot shampoo and a conditioner, use dog shampoo, it will keep their skin healthy. Biogroom will send you some free samples if you email them.
