| 5 and 2 and 0 and 2 Those are Optimus' stats for potty training progress so far! He's peed outside 5 times and inside twice. And poo'd inside twice. No matter how long/far I walk him he will not let those bad boys go outside. The two pees were both the first day living here (yesterday). We JUST moved so I am hoping that fresh carpet will be a huge help. My last dog was so different -- he would smell another dog's pee and immediately have to pee on top of it. Optimus would sniff around forever if I let him. We have to crate him up and make him need to go really badly before he will go outside willingly. I'm homing that some yummy cooked chicken will be the treat that makes him WANT go to --without almost having to burst! We're ordering more belly bands. With unpacking, I can't watch him like a hawk and I hate locking him up so much

| Regulating his food and trying to establish a pattern of how long it takes before he has to go will help. Make sure he knows why you are taking him out. I had one dog that did not get the connection until I stopped letting him play around when we went out. I had to just take him to the same spot in the yard and say "go pee" over and over. When he would finally go he would get a big reward and we went right back inside. He finally started making the connection after several days of that. Hope things start going better soon. |

| I agree with having them on a schedule, that really helps a lot! My dog, Ralph would not poo outside, he would hold it so he didnt have to! Ralph actually just wanted to poo in private, so I would lay a pad down in the bathroom and I would shut the door and he would go in there, now thats where he goes to poo, or he runs to the door. It took us a while, but Ralph doesnt like people watching him poo! haah |
