| I am a newbie!! Help! Hello everyone!! Glad to be apart of your group. I have a tea cup yorkie named Sadie Anne that I just got about 6 weeks ago. She will be a year old on 3/24!!! She is the first dog that we have incorporated into our family, I have a 7yr old son who absolutely adores her. The only problem we have with her is getting her to pee and poop in her crate. She was never "trained" to go anywhere, just where ever she wanted. So it is challenging to say the least. Any advice or suggestions would be grateful. |

| I am a little confused are you saying you want her to pee an poop in her crate, does she also sleep there? if so that's odd you would want her to go in there since most dogs if given the choice don't go where they sleep.

| She will probably never learn to go in her crate as dogs do not like to do their business where they sleep. Have you tried pee pads ? & taking her out often & when she does her business where she is supposed to do it , giver a treat. I have found it to help greatly if I tell them good girl/boy go pee/poo while they are actually in the act of doing it. I think it helps them to understand better what & where you want them to do it. Do Not ever scold her as she is doing something that is a Natural bodily function & it will only confuse her & possibly make her fearful of you. |

| I am also confused as to why you would want her to poo/pee in her crate. Can you not take her out? Dogs do not like to go where they sleep, so that is probably your problem. We use potty pads when we are gone, and lay them away from where they lay. Good luck!

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | I would think that that was a typo'... no one would thing that you actually want her to use her cage as a toitel. So if you wish to train her to potty outside it is not too late. It is possible... but it wont be easy seeing as how she has not been even paper trained. Below is a link to my site and to the training techniques that I have use successfully with every dog that I have owned including all four of my Yorkies that I have now. | Do you have one of those puppy apartment things with the bed on one side and a potty pad on the other? If not I don't know why you would want her to go potty in her crate. i would never wanna use the potty right next to where I sleep. Also there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie its just a term bad breeders use to try and make more money.

| Maybe she misunderstood what crate training is lol. We have had great luck with the pee pads for the puppies but when we got Lolita as an older rescue it was just a matter of taking her out once every hour for a week or so and praising and treating her. After only a week she did wonderful. Good luck.
