Senior Yorkie Talker | Coat type? I looked back at some of the older posts on coat type. And I'm not even sure what coat type Amara has. She is five months today. And the hair by her tail gets very dry and brittle. It doesn't feel like the rest of her body. Which usually feels pretty soft and silky. I'm still using my pure paws samples. And I don't understand it. Does she have a mixed coat or something? Most times her coat is soft but since its growing out she could have a completely different coat type from her puppy coat. I'm a little confused and I would like to know what coat type she has so maybe I can find her a shampoo that does well on her coat. I'm pretty much at a loss. |

| My experience is limited, but I think you are seeing puppy coat. If she were a true cotton coat, I believe that would be apparent already. Wait until she is at least a year old. Teddy's coat continued to change all the way up to his second birthday. Make sure you thoroughly rinse out shampoo, and put a little extra conditioner on dry parts.

| My Bella is a more cottony coated yorkie. But her coat in some parts is very silky! I use IV San Bernard conditioner, it works wonders on the cottony parts. (Pretty much her butt is cottony! LOL She is 1.5 years old and has many coat changes!

| Comfy Oatmeal Shampoo is wonderful. Sorry but the link is not connecting right now.

| ZoE is just the same! Her hair is nice & silky, but is courser by her butt. I just condition the heck out of it with Pantene Pro-V people hair conditioner and then its as silky as the rest of her.

Senior Yorkie Talker | I mean its so confusing. Sometimes I think she may have a cotton coat on some parts of her body and then silk on other parts. I mean really? I'm still kinda confused. I used biogroom and it seemed to work well but didn't make her shine and bounce like pure paws still. But I'm still trying things out. It seems to moisturize her really well I can say that and make her soft. The oatmeal shampoo and conditioner. My mom doesn't like the smell though. The wet smell or the perfume. I try to make them comfortable as possible.. I'm supposed to recieve samples of yorkie splash and shine to try. And Chris Christensen I'm going to try. And I'm going to try Wahl too. |
