| Dna - ??? I just noticed on our new pup's papers, it has DNA numbers along with AKC numbers. Is this correct - the AKC numbers are assigned to each parent then they are registered, the DNA means that each parent was tested and is a full Yorkie??? |

| Yes. Not all AKC registered sires and dams will have DNA numbers, but I believe it is required after a certain number of litters are born to them. For Toby only his dad has a DNA number. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | No. The DNA numbers found by the AKC registration are for keeping track of lineage. In and of themselves they are not used to prove the breed of the dog. American Kennel Club - DNA and the AKC "This technology does not use actual genes, but other DNA sequences that are also inherited one copy from each parent. For this reason, your dog's AKC DNA Profile does not provide any information about the conformation of the dog or the presence/absence of genetic diseases. Furthermore, AKC DNA Profiles cannot determine the breed of a dog."
