| Help! 5yr old Yorkie hair changing color? Hello everyone! I need help with this. I have a 5yr old female yorkie named Bella. She is like my child . Recently, the hair on her back has changed from silver to a copper/ red color. Not her full back but just a random but very distinctive line from the middle of her back to the start of her tail. I have asked a few vets who have had no clue and also googled until my eyes hurt. No one seems to know what has caused the change. Being that she is 5 I don't think this is a normal color change. Has anyone else experienced this or possibly know what is going on? I appreciate any feedback! Thanks! |

| From what I've heard some yorkies will start turning gold as they get older. I have a girl that is 4 years old that is all the sudden turning a dark gold on her back. If you do a search on here for turning gold you will find threads on it. There is also another member here who has a yorkie that is 5 years old that it turning gold. It's nothing to worry about, just enjoy the ever changing colors of the yorkie, lol.

| Here are a couple pictures of my girl that is turning gold. When she was younger she had a dark steel blue color (you can see in the pictures she still has one streak of this color on her), the color you would see in the show ring. A couple years later her coat turned to a very light silver. And now it is turning gold, lol.

| I don't know what that is but it surely is beautiful. Looks like she got loose in a tub of henna!

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | So my Lexi did this at three. But not gold she got a big black spot on her side. Is this to normal? I wondered about it. And she had three litters of pups. Just curious

| I have heard this little saying, 'This is what Yorkies do, born black, go to blue, and at last a golden hue.' I think it is what we call Running Gold or Breeders Blush. It is most common after age 5 especialy if a female that has had litters. I have had two males that also lost all their blue and turned red gold. I guess you could say Yorkies don't go grey, they go gold or red. |
