| Is my yorkie pup under weight Hi all, I have a pup called Max who is 24 weeks and weighs 2lb 6oz , Is that under weight , he is healthy in himself, but is small. | Welcome to YT. To determine if your pup is the correct weight, pay less attention to the number and assess his body. On a physically well-formed dog, you should be able to feel the ribs readily, but they should not be protruding. My younger boy was quite boney as a pup. | You may just have a little guy. My last few yorkies have been 9-12 pounds. Neither were fat, just well built. As the vet used to say - they are not dainty, just healthy. One of my friends has three Yorkies - each from different litters and breeders. They range in age from 1 to 8 years old, and range in size from 3 pounds to 11 pounds. They are all pretty healthy. And like most Yorkies - have no clue they are little dogs! |
