YorkieTalk Newbie! | New yorkie MOM We just got our very first Yorkie saturday. He is 12 weeks and 3days old and he is above and beyond what I expected. He is excellign at everything from potty training to crate training. I unfortanutly have so many questions being a first time yorkie owner. Question 1: My lil guy is 4lbs at 12 weeks how big will he get? Q2: I have been reading that his hair is going to change and I might have to shave him when his adult hair comes in. Is that for every yorkie or just soem and when can i expect this to happen? Q3: Agian with the hair we like to keep his puppy hair curly is this a bad idea? The first time he was groomed the grommer blew his hair out and it just wasnt for me. Q4: I have posted a picture of him at 12 weeks can you tell what color his hair will be? He is does NOT have papers so its not listed. I just want to thank everyone who responds I need all teh help I can get. He is such an amazing dog and our family is so lucky to have him. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Hi Stacey -- I just now spotted your post -- don't know why loads of us didn't see it before because so many of us are OCD about staying up to date here. Your little one is really cute -- what did you name him? There is a growth chart floating around here somewhere. You should read all the stickies in each forum and you will find it, plus loads of information that will help you. His hair will change as he matures - but you don't have to shave it off. Nothing wrong with letting it stay curly. But the longer the hair gets, the more it tangles so it's a good idea to brush him daily. Also -- when you take him to the groomer, they pretty much have to blow the hair dry because you don't want the puppy running around wet when he can take a chill. When Tallulah had her curly puppy hair, it curled back up within a day or so of her grooming, anyway. It's hard to predict what color the dog will be based on puppy color. There is a whole spectrum of tans and blues out there. The good news is that they're all beautiful! Anyway, a belated welcome to YT! I hope you will have as good an experience and find as much useful info as I have in my short time with the group! |
