| ok this is a goofy question This has to be the best place to ask this question.... My Charlie from time to time has some REALLY BAD breath He wont eat those biscuits that are for good breath and I am guessing that regular people toothpaste would be a NO NO I looked online but could only find toothpaste for dogs that was supposed to taste like meat... this did not make me feel like his breath would be "minty fresh" afterwards. So anyone have a suggestion? anyone have this issue? LOL

| Sounds like Charlie needs a dental. Did all of his baby teeth fall out? I've never seen dog toothpaste that was mint scented. (Maybe they make it, I just haven't seen it). If it cleans your dog's teeth, then his breath should be fine.

| you know I dont know if his baby teeth have fallen out I got him at 6 months and I have never seen him lose teeth. or noticed that he had lost any. He was just at the vet and they alsways look at his teeth and gums to make sure he doest have any plaque build up. At what point would he have lost them?

| Here is a link for CET Vanilla-mint toothpaste. Most veterinary offices carry it or you can get it at Amazon also. That's what I use. They have poultry flavor too, but the vanilla-mint smells better. It contains enzymes that help to break down plaque Amazon.com: CET Toothpaste Vanilla/Mint: Home &...

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Breath fresheners only work for a short time, they don't tackle the problem - that could be anything from teething, to a double row of teeth, to an older dog having problems with tartar. Yorkies have a serious problem with tartar, and if not taken care of, they will lose their teeth. I recommend a dental also. We use Petzlife tooth gel that is said to soften tartar and we brush with toothpaste made for dogs, Joey also chews on Bully sticks nightly and this helps clean teeth. At 4 1/2 he still has fresh smelling breath. How old is Charlie, if he's a 6 months or so, he's teething, and this causes stinky breath. If he's a year or so, it could be a double row of teeth, meaning baby teeth didn't come out, and food builds up between the rows. If he's two or more, it's likely tartar and if bad enough gum pockets fill up with food, and this stinks.

| i have a slightly off topic question...when is a good time to do a first dental? princess needs two baby teeth out & i want a full cleaning done as well, but her teeth still look really good. occasionally i'll have to wipe the baby teeth as they will collect fuzz from her tennis balls...but should i wait to have the cleaning & anesthesia be more "worthwhile"?

| well I have good news, I went to my vets site to see if they reccommend a dentist, turns out they have dentistry there (which is probly why they always look at his teeth) his vet is actually at a vetrinary hospital, so I am going to call them tomorrow and see what they suggest, he was just there a couple weeks ago, should have thought to ask then but he was sick and that was the last thing on my mind

| We use Greenies here religiously. Also Breathies Jerky from Dogwell...Elvis seems to have worse breath than the other dogs even when they eat the same stuff...he's almost never allowed Zuke's Mini Naturals in Salmon, I really watch what I feed him. Elvis also came to me with "bad teeth" we saved them all but he had swollen irritated gums, and bad decay starting with a lot of plaque build up...dental helped but it gets bad.

| Tibbe snorts when he smells anything good(like mint), so I don't know if he would like mint-flavored toothpaste but loves his meat-flavored toothpaste and as long as his breath smells good, his dentals are current and he has no gumline buildup, I don't care about minty breath for him. I brush his teeth just about every day. |
