Senior Yorkie Talker | Hair Cut! Help! Hi All! I'm going to the groomers next week and I cant figure out how to cut Lexi's hair... She is cotton coated and gets matted easily...so i usually get her body hair trimmed short. I've attached two pictures one with her hair tied up and one with just bangs in her eyes. She looks so pretty with her hair up... but every time she doesn't have her hair up it flops over. Is there a specific way to cut hair so that it goes nicely up but then stays out of her eyes, or should i continue to grow her hair. Yikes! Advice please

| aww she's cute my yorkie savannah has a cotton coat and my binky had a silk coat. I'm adjusting to her coat texture since tomorrow I'll have her only 2 weeks. I plan on keeping her face, chest and topkot area longer but her back I'll keep that about in inch past her body and her legs I'm going to keep an inch to an inch and a half of length. I actually use a baby brush on her and it works pretty good. I've had a lot of yorkies in my life so this is 5th one and not my first cotton coat. I think its cute though that I brush her and in a few mins it looks like she just woke up she really does enjoy the bonding time now when I brush her and fix her hair and show her how pretty she is in the mirror. |

| aww she's adorable!!! I'm partial to topknots...and my girls hair grows so slooooooooowly!!! ugh I love the long look on top...but with that look you have to always have her hair up...you might talk to your groomer she might have some suggestions...I prefer daizy's back to be short and her legs and face longer...too...plus it's a LOT easier to brush and keep her from looking so messy...right after she gets groomed! And since Lexi's leg hair is so long...that cut would probably look super cute on her..legs and face long...and her back cut short....jmo.

| Oh I forgot to mention the devil horns stage of growing hair on their little heads..lol my binky actually hated brushing at first and we had one brush to bite and one that did the job. the devil horns is basically two topknots like they wear on a maltese that helps to keep the hair out of their eyes when its in growing stage. suture scissors or band scissors for those dental bands are a must to be able to use the hook on the scissors to grab the band pull away and snip it to avoid breaking hair and they have to be changed daily. It does take a long time to grow it out. My binky learned to love her hair done eventually too but she didn't care and I used to say my bows went through the crush test with her before I had a new style. she'd run to the gate to bark ..in the process her bow would smush against the fence. I remember one day bathing her ...blow dry...perfect part down her back...hair bow and out she goes with a treat...yep as you guessed she tried to bury it in my plant pot...and her face was covered in dirt since hubby had just watered them a bit earlier..lol |
