Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Stinky feet Help!!! My Gage has stinky feet. I trim the hair between his pads, bathed him making sure to clean between the paw pads and they still stink. WHAT in the world?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Do they smell like Fritos? I've gotten to love the smell of Joey's stinky feet, but if they are really stinky, maybe there is a fungus growing?

| I'd just wash the feet when they smell, in between bathing. My Azrael has "stinky" feet that smell like Frito's.

| Yeah, gotta love the frito feet! But as others have said, maybe there's some sort of infection. If it persists, you might want to go see your vet.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I don't know about the Frito thing but they stink but my Zoi's don't so maybe I need to call and talk to the vet. He doesn't chew or lick them alot so maybe its a boy thing. Haha!!! At least I don't think it is anything serious. I LOVE MY YORKIES!!!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I always wished one of my dogs had the frito feet. Woe is me. If your kiddos feet are that bad...where it's really overpowering, then I would get him in to see a vet .

| My little girl has frito feet really bad and has been licking and chewing her right front paw. Even after her bath the frito smell would still be on her feet. I started washing her paws only with a mixture of about 1/8 t Dawn with a quarter of warm water after each bath and rinsing off the paws extra well. I do this about twice a week. The frito smell has left and she has quit chewing her paw. Could the frito smell have something to do with bacteria or yeast growing in between the pads and causing something like Athlete's Foot where it would itch? My vet didn't quite know what to say when I asked him about stinky feet and chewing on the paw. He shrugged it off to maybe a food allergy. I am going to try this for a few weeks and see if this is the answer I have been looking for.

| Feet For Sprocket it was an allergy thing, I think, even after his bath, that night and his walk, he would "smell", so I took to wiping him down, extra on his feet when he came in from his walk, I used just warm water and a wash cloth, though I didn't have a happy dog, I got rid of the grass pollen and the stinky feet, so we had no chewing and licking. We live in golf course country and the grass pollen is awful so right now Sprocket is on his allergy meds and extra care from the walks and cross your fingers, no chewing or rash. My vet didn't have too much info except of course more meds to take which I don't like to do, but as long as there is no infection, maybe just keeping them clean and the trimming the hair will work . Another thought, I heard that dogs sweat through their feet, so maybe that is part of the smell? Those who know, is this true?

| Presto used to lick his paw and it was food allergies, switching over the food helped. He is now on Wellness. Anyways i would recommend wiping the paws after walks and also putting a tiny bit of mineral oil to keep them soft (just enough to get it absorbed). If it still smells after daily regimen of wiping i would definitely talk to a vet. |
