| Do my Yorkies still remember me after vacation?? I'm sure if I searched long enough I might find an answer to my question somewhere but I don't have the time to figure out the search parameters,, so I'll just ask and hope that someone will give me some advice. I went to Europe for about 22 days and left both my girls (1 yr old) with a very responsible sitter. She has about 10 dogs (many are Yorkies) and a couple of cats and lives on a sort of ranch. The girls got to come and go in and outside, play and hang with the other dogs. The sitter cooked for them and they got to sleep in bed with her and some of the other dogs. So now I'm back home. We live in a small condo, with no yard and they sleep in their crates. I picked them up and I'm sure they remember me but all day they just sort of laid around on the sofa or in their beds. They didn't want to play or really come over and sit by me. I guess they are missing the life they had while I was gone. I think they used the potty mostly outside when they were with her (I use pee pads and they haven't pottied on it since we got them home. (they pottied when I took them to the park when I picked them up) So, what is the procedure now??? Will they snap out of it or what? I feel kind of guilty for taking a vacation. Please help! Thanks |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Of course they remember you. They've just had a couple of big changes recently. First you left, and they had to learn a new routine with the sitter, and now you've come back and they need to relearn their routine with you. Plus- they may be just plain tuckered out from their 'vacation' and need a few days rest to perk back up. Just go back to your normal routine and they'll be back to normal in no time. |

| I bring Jackson to my dads house sometimes and we usually sleep there-- for Jackson it's like a vacation house. There's an inground pool, hot tub, huge fenced in yard, 2 other dogs, my brother and cats, so alot of excitement and fun. He's always really sad when we go back to our regular house because there is no other dog for him to play with or anything, but then he's usually fine.

| Don't be sad, it's just a change in their routine. They'll snap out of it. Besides, they may be "punishing" you for deserting them, but I'm pretty sure they're just plain tuckered out. They had a lot of excitement during THEIR vacation, too. Give it a couple of days ... they'll be OK. It's a shame you don't have a yard: they learned very good behavior during their visit. But, leave the piddle pads out for "urgent needs" |

| They would remember you if you were a POW for 1 1/2 years! Yes, they remember you. They are just mad that you left them for vacation without taking them with you. |
