YorkieTalk Newbie! | Breeders beware!!! If you recieve a phone call from a hearing impaired service please be very very aware. We recieved a phone call asking us to recieve a call from a hearing impaired service, the message said they were interested in our yorkies for sale and gave us their email address. So we emailed them, and a lady named Mary Doherty emailed us back. She said she lived in Rainbow City, Alabama(we are in Knoxville, TN) she was interested in a male puppy. She asked NO questions about the puppy, such as age, color, size or bloodlines. She just wanted to know a price. Once we told her the price she then said she would like for us to reserve her a puppy, and that she would be sending us a check. That we were to take the check to the bank, cash it, and that she would then send a shipper to our house to pick the dog up. We were supposed to pay the shipper with the extra cash she would be including in the check. It all seemed perfectly fine to me, except for the fact that we like to meet the people who are buying our babies, not a shipper. Well thank goodness before we agreed to the deal, we foud this is nothing but a scam. My mom knows a breeder who had the same thing happen to him. The check that these people send is a fraudulent check. Yes, your bank will cash the check, but it can take up to ten days for the check to clear so then when it doesn't clear you are in the hole. This happened to my mom's friend and of course the check didn't clear until after the shipper had came and picked the dog up, so he ended up loosing a dog for free, and then having to pay a bunch of bank fees for the fraudulent check. So if any breeders get a phone call from a hearing impaired service please be very very careful. I wish we could catch these disgusting people. We emailed the lady back and told her we would be glad to personaly deliever the puppy to her house for a fee, and that she would have to send a certified check, but she never emailed us back. |

| That is horrible...My best friend is hearing impared and often uses the TTY phones to make appts...etc. Her husband would make a call to a breeder if they were looking for a dog. Still, it's horrible that a person would even get access to a phone like that because you are still talking to a real person and they're typing you the replies. I would think that the service person would recognize a fraud based on the call.

| If a buyer ever wants to send a check over the amount and says to pay the shipper the remainder, it's a scam. I remember reading that warning somewhere and how disgusting people do that! |

| I would call your police department...maybe they could set up a "sting" so when the shipper comes to pick up the money..they could arrest him and find out where the scam is starting in the first place. Just a thought...
