Senior Yorkie Talker | Yorkie: "What's this on the ground?" Lexi likes to pick up random stuff on the ground...whatever is small and falls on the ground (elastic bands, twist ties...etc, she loves dirt from potted plants as well as the plants). I try to keep the place clean but for some reason finds it anyways. Will she eventually stop eatting/playing with random stuff from the ground?

| I would like to know too. Penny picks up any and everything her mouth fits. It scares me. She found wire about one inch long the other day. We have to check her mouth constantly.

| Yes. Eventually. If you have houseplants, please be sure to do research as to whether the plants you have may be toxic or not if eaten by your yorkie.

ETA: Looks like Foxtails are found west of the Mississippi. I must be confusing them with another weed here. Last edited by Maximo; 03-27-2010 at 07:06 PM. | |

| Teach 'em to barter! Hubby taught Bailey to bring him her toys -one at a time - and he gave her a cheerio in exchange. Now, Bailey hunts around the house and brings EVERYTHING to us - hair bands, coins, grass from the yard, etc. Its was really cute at first and now its kind of annoying - lol. Today, a dead lady bug was dropped in my lap. Yuk! No worries, I picked it up with a kleenex and gave Bailey her cheerio.

| Ruby will eat everything on the ground (by eat I mean chew and eventually spit out after mass destruction of the object has occurred ). She will notice ANYTHING that moves, be it fingers, toes, strings, threads etc, and chew/bite it and also anything out of the ordinary...like a spec on the wall or something!!! It's so weird how she sees EVERYTHING!

| Roxie is 3 years old and she still picks up everything off the ground. The other day I accidentally dropped the plastic outlet protector on the floor and the next thing I knew I saw her with it in her mouth. We're working on "leave it" with her, but it doesn't always work so well out on walks.
