| New Album Hello All! I just created an Album this morning with pictures of Phoebe at 17 weeks. I've been reading alot about the different faces a yorkie has. (baby doll, lion ect...) I just can't seem to tell the difference! I guess I just don't have enough experience to judge. Anyone have an opinion on Phoebe"s little face? Just curious... |

| She is so gorgeous . I think the shape 'appearance' has a lot to do with the style of haircuts they get. I think Phoebe's look is beautiful!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | There's really no definition for terms like baby doll or teddy bear face, they are just marketing terms that some breeders use. Most people like a smaller nose on a Yorkie, instead of the longer nose of a Silky and some breeders don't even know the difference between the two breeds. A yorkie shouldn't have a flat nose like a pug, but it shouldn't have a long nose like Silky either. Some breeder use those terms in conjunction with the word teacup, The YTCA’s Code of Ethics precludes the use of the words “teacup”, “tiny specialists”, doll faced, or similar terminology by its members. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America (Awards) So I would beware of any breeders who use the terms. I agree with MI Yorkielover and believe it depends upon hair cut and you can get a different look with different haircuts. In general, people on Yorkietalk tend to say cotton coated dogs with fluffy hair and small noses have a teddy bear face, and those with silky hair and small noses have a baby doll face, I don't know how to classify it, but Phoebe has what I call a BEAUTIFUL face! Hope she isn't stuck up!

| I don't know about stuck up, but she's definately spoiled rotten! I know that there are several words Yorkie lovers do not like and as I read and learn more on this site, I can certainly see why! Phoebe is my first Yorkie and I love her soooo much! I just want to know everything there is to know about her. I don't want to miss a thing! She's my BABY!! My family thinks I've LOST IT! I appreciate the info, and thanks for the compliment! BTW, you mentioned silky, is that a whole different breed or just coat type? All of the pics that I've seen of silkys look a little different than Phoebe. I've even seen questions on this site from people wanting to know if they have a Silky or a Yorkie? |
