| Wondering if any of you cut your own yorkie's hair around the eyes... Rucker is 19 weeks and he hasn't been to the groomer yet. He really doesn't need to yet except for the hair around his eyes. He won't let me pull it back because he manages to get the hair holder out every time. He can't see because his hair around his eyes is just long enough to cover them. I wonder if it would be ok to just cut that part? Or should I just go ahead and take him to the groomers?

| Don't approach him head on with the scissors, but from the back of his head slowly. This was advice from my groomer when I had problems. Hugs Shirl x x |

| I have special scissors for when I occasionally have to cut hair from the corner of Sophie's eyes. They are short and have round tips, not sharp or pointed. Most of the time I just let the groomer handle it.

| I gave up and took him to the groomer's... It scared me too much to cut the hair around his face. I've been trying to research around here to find a groomer who is knowledgeable, and I really think I found one. She told me to just get a "maintenance" which is a shampoo and hair trimmed around the face and legs and nails trimmed. A full blown cut wouldn't be good for his first visit. I really like her. I just dropped Rucker off and I pick him up in a couple hours. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes ok!

| I was told that it would be better to let the hair grow out. That way it could be trained so it won't be poking in Darwin's eyes. If you trim the hair, you'll always have to trim the hair. Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

| I keep Snickers's hair around his eyes very short. He's a boy and never wanted him to have a top knot so never grew it out. Snickers has been with us since he was 8 weeks and now he is 1.5 yrs and totally trusts me. I work with his eyes daily, usually wiping them off and getting eye gunk out so he stands and sits very still when I do it. Actually anytime I get scissors out (small blunt tipped) he is as still as a statue. This came with practice and patience. Smiles- Snick & Viv

| Rucker can see! I just picked him up from first groomer's visit...and he is SO CUTE! I can actually see his beautiful eyes. The visit went so well...he came back with a cute 4 leaf clover bandanna, and smells so good! I love it! He didn't act like he was bothered in the least by the experience. I will definitely be taking him back.

To the OP. Dont do it if youre not comfortable with it. I cut the hair right on Roxy's nose that normally goes up in her eyes, but she stays VERY still for me. I also cut the little hairs on the top between her eyes that normally dont stay up in the top knot or fall out, or are in her eyes when her hair isnt up, but she is very still. Lexi, I cut the top of her hair cause she doesnt fight me on that, but she doesnt let me get near her face at all. I just let the groomer cut that because I dont want to take a chance on her jerking and me poking her, or Lord forbid, taking an eye out.
