| My first post I had a Yorkie named; Lacey. Her full name was Lacey Azalia Francais on her papers. My parents surprized me with her when I was still in high school. They paid $400 for her at the pet store in Houma. She was only 6 weeks old. Sadly, after 13 years of having Lacey, she was diagnosed with kidney failure right before Easter this year. We tried everything to prolong her life. But, she got sicker. She was barely holding on to 2 pounds and would not eat for anything. She barely wanted to get out of her dog bed towards the end. I am crying as I write this. I guess she knew the end was near, because the day before her death, she got her dog bed. And scratched on my mom's leg for her to pick her up. My mom ended up putting her to sleep the next day. She was suffering too bad and there was no hope. It was June 30th this year. Just 5 days after my birthday. Lacey was such a great dog and so smart. Before I got my car and my mom was still driving me to work, she used to come ride with me every single day. She loved to ride. And don't even think about putting her in the backseat. She had to ride with her little body on my mom's shoulder while driving. And when I would sometimes go through the drive thu to get something to eat, she would be barking so loud that the workers could not hear my order. She was a smart little dog. She knew all the dogs by name in the neighborhood. Her favorite was Buster. A bloodhound. We used to say that was Lacey's boyfriend. Everytime I would say Buster, her ears would go up, she would run to the window to see if he was in our yard. Lacey used to love to show off. Whenever we had company over and if the attention was not on her, she would go get her blanket from her dog bed. And she would put in on your foot. Then, if you were still not paying attention, she would put it over her head. Pretend she was a ghost and would run all over barking because she could not get it off. Oh, and she used to toss her bone in the air like it was a basketball. We always used to joke about getting her a basketball goal. For Christmas, she used to open up her own gifts. And for Halloween, we dressed her as a clown. Even though, the hat would be too big and start falling off. She used to take turns sleeping with us every night. She would play games with my dad and start taking his covers off. My dad would put his covers back on and she would take them back off. Until she tired herself out and went to sleep. Lacey also slept at Sears with me once. Long story. It was after Hurricane Andrew hit here and we were looking for a generator. Anyway, I decided to join to help my grieving process. We are looking for another Yorkie right now. Hopefully, right before Christmas. Another female yorkie puppy. So far we had no luck finding one around the Houma-Thibodaux Louisana area. The pet store is getting a shipment in. But, they are asking for $850. There is no way we can afford that. We only paid $400 for Lacey but that was 13 years ago. And now the prices are outrageous. I just hope we can find one for a good price soon. I already have the name picked out. Chloe Cheyenne. |

| Welcome,, all your info, was so touching and heartfelt... It brought a tear to my eye,,, can't imagine losing one after having her that long, I hope you find another baby soon,, BUT,,, I would stay away from PEt stores,, they sell Puppy mill dogs,,with alot of genetic problems, that are way overpriced,, try newspapers, word of mouth, or local internet ads,, You will learn all about why NOT to buy from Pet Stores on here,, Welcome, and keep up the search,,, I dont think you posted your name? But Im Rhonda,, glad you joined us!

| We are not getting one from the pet store. We got Lacey from a pet store in Houma at the mall. It was called Pup and Pets and it closed about a year after we got Lacey. But, we were lucky with Lacey, she really did not have any health problems. She stayed healthy and rarely got sick. She had turned 13 on January 11th. And we still thought she was healthy. She took Christmas pics at Petsmart on santa and she looked the picture of health. She even flashed a doggie grin for the photos. But, around March, she completly lost her appetite. And she used to LOVE to eat. Even though it did not show. She never got over 4 pounds her whole life. She started drinking a lot more frequently and using the bathroom a lot. And her breath started smelling real foul. We thought it was her teeth. When we could not get her to eat, we took her to the vet. And she was diagnosed with kidney failure due to old age. We tried everything to save her. She only lived a few months after the diagnosis. It was very painful for my mom to put her to sleep, but she was in too much pain. And it was also just as painful to watch her suffer. We probably won't get one at the pet store. There is only 1 pet store nearby and that is in Houma. And they want $850. There is no way we can afford that right now. I am still living with my parents. Because my current job does not pay enough for me to move out. My mom says she only wants a Yorkie puppy. A female. We put an ad and tried so far by word of mouth. But, no luck. There was an ad in our local paper, but it was male and they wanted $950! We are hoping to get one in time for Christmas or a little sooner. Oh, my name is Trish. |

| HI Trish!!!!. Welcome to YT!!! My heart goes out to you. I'm sure Lacey will live in your heart forever. She is up there playing catch with some friends she met, but she will always have her eye on you. When we lost Roxanne, it was so hard, I know how you feel. I'm sure there is a puppy out there for you. If you don't find her, she will find you. This is a great group you have joined, and we are glad you are here. Take care!

| Hi Trish, Welcome to YT. I'm sorry you found us under such unhappy circumstances. I lost mine this year, too, so I know the grief you are experiencing. It's tough, but even though it hurts to talk about it, I think it helps you heal as well. No other puppy can take the place of that special one, because they are each little individuals just like people. Once in a great while a puppy will be on petfinder.com, but they do have an approval process usually such as a fenced yard. I wish you luck and perhaps one will come along soon. I know how broken your heart is right now and how sad and quiet the house can be without the pitter-patter of those little paws to brighten your day. I would love to see some pictures if you feel like posting some of your little one.

| hi! welcome to yorkie talk! I'm new too! I'm so sorry for your loss, but don't worry things will look up! . If I can do anything to help you find your new baby girl just ask! I don't mind searching for you! I just got my first yorkie about a month ago and he's one of my two little men,and I can't imagine living without him. I know puppyfind.com has some yorkie pupies in your price ramge, but you really have to search, and be VERY carefull, because there are tons of crooks looking to scam nice people like you on that site! I'll send you what I find if anything!I hope you find your baby soon!

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Your story about Lacey is so touching. You were so blessed to have had her in your life for so many years. I am sorry for your loss and wish you the best in finding another furbaby. I am glad to read that you probably wont look in pet stores for another Yorkie. There are just so many more negative stories then positive one's with those paying for pet store puppies. A huge negative is it does support Puppy Mills. Just keep checking local newspapers, talk to friends by getting the word out, etc. Your search and determination should find you exactly what you have your heart set on.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | GOOD luck on finding a new puppy - your story really touched me. Lacy sounded like such a little doll and I can see how much you are still hurting...... There ARE yorkies out there if you are patient and just keep telling yourself that one is waiting for you - Pet Stores aren't good to buy from - they are really in the business of high profit these days and buy from Puppy Mills.... I would keep looking in your paper and maybe make contacts thru THIS site - I just know there are breeders who do have yorkies ...Maybe you could do a WANTED post here on Yorkietalk - in the For Sale or Wanted Section - Here is the link https://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yorkies-sale-wanted/ There are many people networking and I bet you can find something soon - Good luck - I'm very sorry about your sweet Lacey |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | i found this don't have enough time for my Yorkie I don't have enough time to spend with my Yorkie, named Boopsie, so I must sell him. I'm on 6/10's at work, so I just don't have the time he needs. He is about a year old and very sweet. He gets along well with our cat, outside dogs and two children. I have papers on him, but I never sent them in because I wasn't planning on selling him. But now I see that I should. I'm only asking $300 for him so he is affordable.
