Donating YT 11K Club Member | How do you get them to like bath time? No matter which way I take the pups a bath they always act terrified of the water...is there anyone here that has a yorkie that loves water? How did you get them to like it?

| I consider myself lucky. All of my yorkies love bath time. I make sure to put a small towel in the bottom of the tub so they don't slip. I have the water temp adjusted before I bring them in. I use a removable shower nozel and I only give one bath at a time so it is kind of like their own one on one time with mommy I also start with spraying the feet first till they get used to it and relax then I do the face cleaning first (not their favorite part) then we wash the rest of the body. Try to stay really calm and relaxed with them. |

| I always keep the same routine with bath time, we comb out first, and then give a treat, then bath, treat again, then comb out/dry, and treat They get used to this and know what to expect. Also in the beginning I took my time with them, made it a good experience. You can put a washcloth in the bottom of the bath/sink so that they don't slip around, and that makes them more secure. They also do better if the water isn't rising up around them, mine really hate it if I plug the sink. Now they get jealous if the other is getting a bath or brushed out, they really like it and the extra attention.

| I give extra hugs and kisses before a bath and try and make it all about them. Maggie doesn't mind baths too, too much. Hot Rod tolerates them but loves the cuddling afterwards.

| easy, take a slice of ham or whatever else works with you. shred it into tiny nibble-sized portions (smaller than what you would consider a treat). give these constantly throughout the process. It helps to have someone else assist you. Gir will now run jump in the tub when I'm in the bathroom. One time he did that and sat and stared at me for like 10 minutes hoping for a bath. He also likes the blowdrier now..which is surely a testament to the motivational power of ham. |

| I'd say Harley tolerates the water but doesn't necessarily enjoy it. She knows when it bath time though because I comb through her and then give her a treat, then off down the hall to grab a towel. She's still small enough that I can wash her in the kitchen sink and I have a spray nozzle which makes it much easier. When she was a puppy, about 14-16 weeks, she didn't like it at all! But I think she was picking up on my energy because I wasn't yet completely comfortable with it either, not knowing how she would react. But now, she's a good girl, doesn't fight it at all...and LOVES to be pampered and cuddled once it's over. Oh and I save the face for last because I've found that once that gets wet, she gets a little uneasy and instinctively wants to shake...which is a no no. So I get everything done and then do her face so as soon as thats over, she's out in a warm towel in mama's arms. I think doing it this way actually makes it more tolerable to her because she knows that when I get to her face, it's almost over Singing or humming is a plus too. The pool is another story though, she likes that....I'll scoot my float over to the edge of the pool and she'll step down onto it on her own. She loves to soak up the sun in the pool

| Callie loves bath time I think its because I talk to her in the baby voice the hole time and tell her how good she is but she used to be afraid of the water running hard from the faucet because its so loud so I bought a sprayer that hooks to the shower and there is a lot less noise. If I tell her its bath time she runs upstairs to the upstairs bath room and waits on me.

YT 2000 Club Member | Jasmine is small, so I give her bath in the kitchen sink. I think this helps because she feels safer in it then the "big tub" (more her size). I always stay to the same routine, lather body, legs, head, rinse.(spray nozzle)...then conditioner...rinse. Done and in Mommies arms. All in all it only takes about 4 minutes. I think sticking to a routine helps and staying very calm. Jasmine really likes her bath now. She loves a good massage and when I put the blow dryer down on the vanity with a towel close by she is in heaven. Lol....Have a Great day!

| I don't think Zeus likes bath time but he tolerates it. I also warm his towels in the dryer and have my kids get them out just as I am in the final rinse. He just snuggles up to me in his warm towel for a couple of minutes before he is released to run around like a maniac. I think having a ritual makes it easy. My Mom has it made with her dog. He jumps in the tub and waits for her! He loves his baths. |

| So far I have had no issues with bath time, she actually seems to enjoy it. I do use the sink where I am right in her face instead of bending to the tub. She loves the warm water running on her back constantly while I wash a section. She even lifts her head so I can rinse that area. Now the Yorkie/Chi mix, she whines the whole time and tries to climb out. Hopefully she will learn to be good like CoCo. |

| Bath Time I must say ours love taking a bath. I bath them in the kitchen sink. I use the spray to wet them down and rinse them off. When I bath them they get a full body massage and really enjoy sitting there. Then they get a special treat.
