| How often do you bathe your dog(s)? So how often do you all wash your dogs? I am wondering if I bathe them too little... I try to at least bathe them 1 time a week. How often do you bathe?

| Sandy gets a bath once a week and goes to the groomers once a month. I keep her body short and like to groomers to do that for me. In the meantime, I trim her nails, paw hair, wee wee hair, and inside her ears. I haven't decided yet how often I'll do Tia, but I'd like to follow the same plan

| With Schatzie I bathe her every 3 days and she does go also to a professional groomer to manage her anal glands (i wont touch that, gross), clip nails and trim hair as needed. I guess it depends on the Yorkie, what type of skin it has regarding allergies, dry, itchy, other issues, etc, or what type of enviornment the Yorkie is in: for instance some Yorkies love to play in mud, go hiking, dig in the dirt, etc. I know there is a lot of controversy over the issue of bathing and how often, what products to use on the Yorkie, etc. So I'm just guessing it's a personal issue on what is best for your Yorkie.

| I was giving Amber a bath twice a week when I used a Shampoo from Walmart. I recently swiched to Vellus Shampoo and Conditioner and found that she only needs to be bathed once a week now. I could probably go longer but I just dont like to. |

| Throwing in my 2 cents since anymore than that would put my bank account overdraft! LOL I like to bath Pita (6lb male neutered) every 3 days. Thats just my choice though. He enjoys his baths and then being blown dry with the hair dryer on low. I use Pantene with the conditioner mixed in. The 2 in 1 kind. I also use corn starch on a soft rag for his face. I just make it real loose and dip the rag in and wipe off his face area around his eyes on the bottom. Not only does it keep his little nose and eyes clean, but it also keeps the fur from staining that dark brown color. I didn't believe it until I tried it, and now I use it on all my fosters. They usually come to me already with the brown stains from the eye boogers and that mixture just cleans the fur right up! Plus the eye boogers don't stick to the fur after that since the cornstarch leaves like a coating on the fur that make them wipe right off between baths. Yorkies also have a couple different fur types. Pita has the thick double coat. Silver and slightly wavy/curly on top, and blue and straight on the underside. That makes his coat pretty thick and causes him to get a stringy hair look even with routine brushing. I don't worry with flea shampoo anymore since using frontline after his bath. 2 or 3 spritz's from the bottle after he is towel dried and then brushed out and he is good to go! On the other hand my daughter in law has one that has the thin straight coat blue/silver and it hugs the body close and she only baths once a week and her little boy looks great 24/7 and hardly needs any brushing. She does brush him everyday though because these little guys just love the brushing and combing. I don't know if it's the attention or the actual feel of the brush or comb stroking their skin. Anyway, that was my 2 cents worth!!! LOL

| People think I'm crazy, because I try to give my puppy a bath (he's 5 months) every 4 or 5 days. His nickname is Mr. Stinky for one thing... he gets dirty somehow, even though he's not allowed outside! That stinker. |

| Archie gets a bath about once a week. I did find out that my neighbors upstair bathe their pomeranian every 6 weeks. In between, they use the ionic pet brush (WHERE IS THIS THING?! I WENT EVERYWHERE TO GET ONE), which apparently cleans, massages and combs your pet with trillions (yes, not millions or billions...TRILLIONS) of ions. On a side note, i just got Archie this wiry brush and it's really great. it keeps his hair very soft. Archie spends a lot of time outside so I have to bathe him every week. |

| Gracie has a "cotton coat" and goes to the groomer every 6 weeks, I bathe her fully at 3 weeks, but wash her face daily and remove her"eye-buggars" daily with a warm wet washcloth. She also gets mini-baths as needed if her rear gets stinky............... |

| Our breeder instructions for bathing were "whenever" she needs it! So ... at first it was several times a week ... now about once a week. Since she is not allowed on the ground except for walking, we use the "sniff" test! If she smells like a dog ... she's gonna get bathed! BTW ... thanks, orinskye, for that brush link. The picture of the cat having a "bad hair day" was toooo funny!! The brush sounds like a good idea!

| First Bath Well Sydnee is getting her first bath today since I got her four days ago. I just can't take it any longer, I have cleaned her butt and dry cleaned her with the dry shampoo and used the wet wipes for pets, but she still smells like wee wee from the litter just laying around and not getting up to go I guess. Am I suppose to shave her hiney??? bare??? or close to it?? So though she hasn't hit 9 weeks old she is going in the tub for a thorough cleaning. That is okay ? Yes? Viki |

| I have had Lil Bit for 2 weeks now and she has had 2 baths....and multiple "butt baths"..I finally trimmed the hair around her hinney to avoid the "runny clingers"..... I want to bath her about every week or so until she gets used to the bathing thing...she is so small, I just hold her in my one hand and wash her in the sink... |
