| Breaking color? How old was your yorkie when the color on their back started breaking? I ask because Bailey is 9 months old and he's been getting the silver/grey color on his back coming in for about 2 months now. It's gotten very prominent now though, he has silver roots. I realize all yorkies are different, but I'm wondering what the 'average' age is. |

| My pups are going on seven months old and their roots are already turning grey/silverish. I'm not a breeder so I don't know what the norm is.

| Missy is 1yr and still has mostly black back. Max has black and silver coming through, I'd guess it started changing when he was about 8mo old...

| S: Chewy is 7 months now and the hair on his head has definitely turned. His mouth area is a golden but the top of his head is completely white! He's like a 90 year old. The hair on his body is taking a little longer but there is definitely a little salt n' pepper going on. |

| Bell started to turn early, But I didn't realize it until she was groomed the first time at around 9 months old(??) When I went to get her I thought they were giving me the wrong dog!! Lilly is only 14 weeks old and if you part her hair on her back the blue hair is about 1/2 inch long already.. Now the puppy 9weeks old, has black hair all the way down to his skin!!

| I have a little girl who's 14 months and I'm just starting to see her turning in the flank area. Breaking coats are an exercise in patience. CJ |

| Rowdy started changing pretty early - about 4 months - but his parents are very light. I've included some pix - unfortunately I don't have any pix of him at 4 months. 1. 2 months 2. 3 months 3. 6 months Well, for some reason the correct pix didn't upload, but you can see that he is pretty light at 6 months - but he was also almost that light, just a little darker, at 4 months

| Trixie's head is already pretty light. Now there are some silver roots coming through on her back. I think when I get her groomed, I'll really see the silver! |

| Bia started getting greying roots on her back about a month ago, she is 5 months now. Her head has always been silver at the roots, its now more prominent though. She looks so scragely right now, almost like shes a stray tahts been through it, I cant wait until her colors are all grown in. She is my first yorkie and I just can't believe how all these colors end up looking like they are supposed too. I really am wondering about the head, I mean her head is white, but her face is turning tan, so how does it all end up looking nice? I read on another thred before that at this stage is the hardest, because they are blossoming into adults, but it does get better. I cant wait!
